He comes to Cambridge from his previous position as Head of Curriculum for Excellence at the Scottish Qualifications Authority where he played a leading role in a comprehensive, transformational redevelopment of national qualifications and assessment for Scotland. Before joining SQA, and after a successful early career as a naval officer, he spent a decade teaching. During this time he was also a principal examiner and senior verifier with several awarding organisations. He has Masters degrees in Education and Educational Management, with research interests in curriculum management, assessment and pedagogy.
Roger Franklin-Smith Senior Schools Development Manager (New Zealand, Australia and Pacific Islands) Roger has an extensive teaching background including senior leadership positions in New Zealand private and state schools. He has been involved with the implementation of Cambridge International Examinations within the national and international education community for 13 years. Prior to his current appointment, Roger has contributed to major education reform projects in Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Bermuda and Macedonia through his own consultancy business and Cambridge International Examinations. His interests lie in curriculum design and building school internal capacity to effectively manage curriculum and assessment change. David Hastie Director of Cambridge International Courses at Presbyterian Ladies College, Sydney David manages and teaches the Cambridge International Courses at Presbyterian Ladies College, Sydney. David is in the final stages of his PhD, examining the impact of religious schooling on Australian education. In addition to academic publications, he is published widely in broadsheet media, education and religious sector media, and has presented extensively at education conferences. This annual meeting is for any educators involved with delivering Cambridge International Examinations programs or qualifications in the Australian Education context. This includes teachers, school curriculum managers and principals. The event offers an opportunity to enhance collegiality, share resources, and forward-plan around your schools curriculum and qualification offerings.
