A sustainability focused auditing program for dorm rooms at Cal Poly. It aims to spread awareness of sustainability and energy and water saving practices in students living on campus. Residents can sign up their room and the RA will audit the room, gauging its level of sustainability and offer advice on how to be more sustainable in the future. We will give you a door placard to be given to the residents upon completion for display.
Registration You will be given a sign up form to email to residents, along with promotional flyers for the hall. You can use the flyers to advertise the program and encourage residents to sign up. The resident will enter in 5 times that they are available for the audit. The Audit An auditing checklist will be given to you, either printed or an electronic version, and this will be used to conduct the assessment. The checklist has 3 major sections Walkthrough and Assessment Facilities Behavioral Interview Walkthrough and Assessment The Walkthrough and Assessment section is where the presence of certain energy efficient or sustainability items is graded. As a walkthrough session, typically these items can be easily identified when viewing the room. Some questions will be needed. Facilities This section is merely an opportunity for the resident to document and issues that facilities may need to look into. Once you return the checklist to the interns, facilities will be contacted to assess the issues. Behavioral Interview The Behavioral Interview measures the sustainable practices and behaviors of the residents living in the room. The resident in the room who signs up the room will be the one for which the answers for this section will be used in order to avoid conflict and save room.
