At 8.30 am on 14 August 2003 I opened my back dooi to a Secuiity
Intelligence Seivice vehicle masking as Matiix Secuiity. I looked up
to see a police helicoptei between me and the museum. Both weie
monitoiing me. An houi latei an intelligence ocei aiiived at my dooi
with two coees and a newspapei. He had a pioblem with histoiy and
nominated himself as my chaueui.
Teieaftei I sat in the back of my cai getting biiefed and iecoiding
histoiy. He pioved himself by giving me the news ahead of time ovei
the next yeai. I became convinced that the Spymastei had access to

I was given sixty books, about foui at a time, some magazines, and
a host of documentaiies to watch. In each one I looked foi puiposeful
mistakes and in each one I found them.

the infoimation was inteipieted, it was disseminated and exists in disk

When enough inteiconnected cogs aie illuminated, a new histoiy
is foimed. Tis makes the piesent easiei to explain and the futuie easiei
to undeistand, if not piedict.
Te histoiians job is to deciphei and impait infoimation in a way
that the public can undeistand. Some of the woilds dumbest people aie
histoiians lectuiing in what amounts to history propaganda and some
of the woilds most intelligent histoiians aie painting houses. Tis is the
pioblem with histoiy.
In the piocess of wiiting this book, I collected infoimation fiom
intelligence agents aiound the woild. I then gave each agent infoimation
fiom the othei, which they checked. Any othei leads I had, Id check
thiough the seivice and theyd tell me how accuiate I was. Tey usually
checked the stoiies thiough the foieign intelligence netwoik based in
the listening post that is New Zealand. As the mutual exchange checked
out, iespect developed and the bullshit factoi was eliminated. I did this
foi some twenty-two yeais and in the last thiee yeais Ive been biiefed
up to foui times a week, making me one of the boys, but still a boy.
When the infoimation pioved to be coiiect, as it invaiiably did
bai minoi details which weie coiiected using all media I came up
with a scenaiio and illustiated the agents pait in it, and then a theoiy
on the how and why of intiigues, assassinations, wais and social policy.
In this way I gatheied a body of data that is a viitual iewiite of the last
hundied yeais of histoiy. As this infoimation was oideied a new and
moie accuiate histoiy foimed.
Occasionally it was tense, especially towaids the end, when we had
a piopeity that was woith piotecting and capable of toppling. Most
often these ties (spy meetings) weie done face to face, sometimes
thiough a pioxy and othei times thiough pioxies on both sides. Many
of the people I ieciuited infoimation fiom, I was nevei allowed to meet.
Money nevei changed hands and the most expensive infoimation came
with the piice of a takeaway meal. No one had any pietensions and no
one woie a tienchcoat, but we had a lot of laughs, tea and ciackeis.

From 1970, I continued my training as a qualied male nurse until 1973
when I received a Diploma Certicate in Nursing. In 1974 I moved to

Wedding, at the recommendation of the Department of Health at the
Berlin Senate until 1977 and upon completing that training I received
a Diploma in anaesthesia and the intensive care of sick people.
I was then promoted to Superior Male Nurse and went to work
at Spandau Hospital (Krankenhaus, Spandau) in the intensive care
unit until 1st August 1982 when I went to work in the Allied Military
Prison in Spandau as Male Nurse for Rudolf Hess.
2. On the day of Mr Hess death, 17 August 1987, I commenced
my duties, which involved caring for Mr Hess, as usual at 6.45 a.m.
I assisted him, as was usual, with showering and dressing, and was
present when he ate a meal at 10.30 a.m. At no time did he give any
indication that his state of mind was disturbed or that he was unduly
depressed. Shortly after the meal, he asked me to go to the nearby
town of Spandau to purchase a ceramic pot to replace one which
was defective. Mr Hess would not have made such a request merely
to ensure my absence, since I was always absent in any event from
midday, during my noon pause.
3. At 2 p.m. I was called to the prison from my at which was
located outside, but in the immediate vicinity of, the prison (to which
I had gone on my return from the town of Spandau). After some delay

Biographies
Gieg Hallett tiained in vaiious psychological
models in paiallel with his aichitectuie degiee
and tiaining. He tiavelled widely behind the
Iion Cuitain duiing the Cold Wai, hitchhiking
on planes and making bunks out of aiimail bags
to paity and iepoit between cities. His contacts
in Eastein Euiope led to deep penetiation
of the Soviet State, how it functioned and
how it was to colonise the West. It was these
qualications that led him to buy buildings in
Moscow immediately aftei the Beilin Wall fell. Tis led to inteiviews
with the KGB and theii ievelations about the planned sex-communism
and deconstiuction of Westeineis. What the Soviets planned foi the
West happened in the West. Equally all modein histoiy can be dated
back to 1945. What Hitlei planned foi the woild happened to the woild
ovei the next sixty yeais.
Before and after this meeting intelligence had a pattern of
attaching themselves to me and the rst person to do so was the
Kings doctor in 1967, quickly followed by the Queens brother. In the
build up to the Soviet meetings, those with intelligence backgrounds
provided me with whatever training and cover they saw t. Tose with
CIA backgrounds briefed me heavily from America to Greece and
joined me in one operation prior. No operation was ever ocial, nor
were they written up. Cover included haircuts, clothing, relationships,
travel arrangements, concise and pertinent history briengs, word of
mouth . . . and denial.
I interviewed the KGB in Moscow on 9 December 1989 at
a point when they were open, due to lack of pay. At the time you
could buy information for the price of a meal. Tis led to some
psychological information being supplied which led to international
contacts, further training and meetings with James Bond III and the
Spymaster. Te Spymaster and other intelligence operatives have
been brieng me for the past four years, resulting in ten books four
in this immediate series.

Te Spymastei says that he will often go on opeiations and end
up in entiiely the wiong place with the wiong people at the wiong
time, but always much wisei. Gieg Halletts attitude to histoiy has been
similai and the best infoimation is uncoveied by accident and without
intention . . . Perhaps the best intelligence gathering method is good
table manners, good mental health, no fear, a small amount of wit, and
the most ridiculous levels of courage that border on sheer stupidity to
those who calculate such risk-and-rewards.
One of the best intelligence
gathering exercises I ever did was
to stand in Moscows Red Square
at 1.23 pm on 5 December 1989
and yell out Mokiie Dela [Wet
Liquidations] at the top of my voice.
Tis attracted spies to me like shit to a
blanket. It also attracted sympathisers
and sympathetic spies.
When the Spymastei teamed up with Gieg Hallett they found they
shaied insights and histoiical answeis to many of the contioveisies of
Euiope fiom WWII to the Cold Wai and the piesent . . . not disiegaiding
aspects of the futuie. In listening to each otheis stoiies they noted a lot
of common giound and have attempted to lay this baie.
Tiough such coincidences, histoiy is often moie explicable to
the oidinaiy man than a lot of complicated analysis. Aftei embedded
histoiians, we found lling-in-the-gaps analysis to be a piimaiy cause of
ill-infoimed histoiy. Field experience is everything. Independent eld
experience is even better and accidental independent eld experience
is history altering.
Te Spymastei has woiked in a backgiound of undeclaied hostilities
in many countiies ovei many decades. He has done undeicovei amongst
Nazis, Communists, Maixists and some of the most vicious gangs of
ciiminals in New Zealand. Seveial times othei people have been killed
in his place in cases of mistaken identity. Te Spymastei has been
aiiested moie times than he can iemembei and by moie outts than he
can iemembei and has been on both sides of enfoicement opeiations.
Te Spymastei has an in-depth knowledge of oendeis in New
Zealand and oveiseas and is often sought out by people in high places.
