Brief Introduction
LTIR-180 Iron Roughneck is installed on the drill floor and adopts the control
method of manual control, portable panel box or PLC touch screen in drillers
cabin to extend its mechanical arm freely towards the position of wellhead or
mouse hole. This iron roughneck can realize makeup&breakout operation for
drilling stems (drill pipe, drill collar, casing, etc.) on the drill floor
onshore or offshore, which reduces man power and time for run-in-hole and
pull-out-of-hole to promote safety and eliability.

Automatic Arm
The automatic arm of the LTIR-180 provides consistently smooth, accurate
travel with long reach capabilities from 55, 88 and 144. With the simple
electronic and mechanical system, consistently accurate positioning at either
well center or mouth hole can be achieved easily.

Spinner System
The spinner is mounted above the wrench assembly and is used to spin a drill
pipe/drill collar connection in prior to makeup torque, and spin a drill
pipe/drill collar connection out after breakout torque.The spinner head of
LTIR-180 employs a floating suspension system that naturally follows tubular
movement as threaded connections are spun in or out, thus avoiding the
detrimental thread wear and drag. The LTIR-180 floating spinner suspension
ensures minimal tool joint wear and extended tubular life.



TorqueWrench Assembly
Hydraulic Valve Box
The torque wrench assembly is the
component used to apply
makeup&breakout torque to the drill
pipe/drill collar being handled. It is
controlled at the remote control
console by using the four-position
makeup/breakout selection switch.
The LTIR-180 torque wrench has large
V-shaped die assemblies, creating a
broad, four point clamping
arrangement that results in superior
clamping performance.
The dies for LTIR-180 have a large
surface area which reduces the
required clamping force when
applying torque to the connection and
alleviates tool joint deformation.

Hydraulic Valve Box
The hydraulic valve box of LTIR-180
consists of a series of high-quality
multiple valves which can realize
local or remote control operation for
drill pipe/drill collar
makeup&breakout.
The torque set panel can easily show
and control the makeup or breakout
torque to ensure the pipe handling
operation meets the standards.

Rotation System
Hydraulic Power Unit
The LTIR-180 rotation system consists of the gear
system and hydraulic system. It is at the bottom of
the column assembly.
The LTIR-180 rotation system allows the driller to
rotate the iron roughneck from the wellhead to the
mouthhole or from the mouthhole to the well head
by one-button operation at the remote control
console.
It avoids the operation to pull and push the iron
roughneck for the drilling workers so as to save time
and manpower and also be safer.

Remote Control Console
The LTIR-180 remote control console
controls the hydraulic system
electrically through pushbuttons
and switches controlling solenoid
valves. The operator can perform
makeup&breakout operation for pipe
connections either on the drill
floor or in the drillers cabin where
the jaws of the iron roughneck can be
observed while operating the iron
roughneck.
