STRENGTHS Patient volumes are increasing significantly highlighting GABMMCs efforts to respond to growing community needs. PICU has professional, competent and friendly nurses and MDs. Staff and healthcare providers are working in a patient-focused organization providing free and quality services. Nurses are very hands-on, well trained and skilled in different procedures in the ICU. Multidisciplinary approach to patient care delivery.
WEAKNESSES Capacity constraints in terms of physical space, beds and human resources. Facilities for parents are inadequate. Increased workload as compared to the ideal healthcare setting. Limited availability of some medical supplies. Shortage of specialty care pediatric doctors like pediatric GI, endo, ortho, neuro doctors. High turnover of nursing staff. OPPORTUNITIES GABMMC has strong community partnerships and support. The Manila City Hall plans on opening a new ward for paying patients (pay ward) that will be a potential source of funds. Renovation of the laboratory and new laboratory procedures available soon. Presence of health centers in the community that provides free vaccines for pediatric patients and for more health collaborations. Growing community healthcare programs for pediatric patients. High cost of healthcare, especially admission in the ICU, among private hospitals.
THREATS Upcoming local election in the year 2016 could result in shift in investment priorities and city funding. Budgetary restraints imposed by the local government unit. Increasing cases of communicable diseases among children. Increasing population of indigent people in the community.
