No-Smoking

About one third of the male adult in global population smokes and two third of smokers
want to quit. Although, the health risks of tobacco smoking are well known to the smokers
with regard to diseases of the heart, lungs, and blood vessels, yet many continue to smoke.
One of the most obvious stop-smoking facts is, it doesn’t happen overnight. I remember a
friend told me that “Smokers don’t get old because they die young”. This is true if you
think about it. Most smokers die in their middle age.

It is true; it’s not that easy to quit smoking immediately. Everyone is different and thus, a
method that works well for one person may not work so well for someone else. The main
ingredient is your dream to quit and your will power to do so. You can start with some pre-
preparation by ensuring that you really do want to quit smoking and understanding why
you smoke. Tell your family, relatives, work, colleagues and friends and ask them to
support you.

Tobacco Kills!
Tobacco contains over 4,000 chemicals, many of which are harmful to human body and
mind.

How can I stop smoking?

To effectively kick this nasty habit is truly a process that takes time. So you should try to
relax and put a little time between you and the last cigarette you have smoked.

What are the benefits of stopping smoking?

The benefits begin straight away. You reduce your risk of getting serious disease, no matter
what age you give up. However, the sooner you stop, the greater reduction in your risk. It
is never too late to stop smoking to gain health benefits.
Benefits of stopping smoking include the following:
• Breathing gets better.
• Chest infections and colds become less frequent.
• Reduction in 'smoker's cough'.
• The smell of stale tobacco goes from your breath, clothes, hair, and face.
• Foods and drinks taste and smell much better.
• Finances improve.
• You are likely to feel good about yourself (self confidence increases).

I once read a quip that made me smile – “Who says quitting smoking is difficult? I have
quit it five times and there is nothing in it”. Yes, usually this is what happens. You think
you left smoking for good and the habit is behind you. Then, you just smoke once with
your friends – for the sake of old times – and that is it. Most important here is to be
positive and confident that you can quit. Believe in you. If you believe in ten thousand
myths and don’t believe in yourself, it is merely waste.

I remember myself started this for just a one-time-smoke bit; nothing to worry about.
However, in no time, I found myself treating on a regular basis, and allegedly out of the
blue, I will be back smoking regularly again. You need to know and keep in mind that
getting back to smoking is extremely easy.

You also need to know what you would encounter when you attempt to stop smoking. The
withdrawal symptoms can be very unpleasant and painful. Are you ready to tackle this
problem head on? Do you know what medication can help you with the withdrawal
symptoms? Do you know how long it takes to get rid of the habit? You need to have nerves
of steel and a high level of commitment to get yourself rid of this toxic habit.

Here is one good piece of quit smoking advice. A Great No-Smoking Tip:

When you decide to quit smoking, take another decision in your mind. Decide never to
smoke a cigarette that is bought with your money, and never carry a pack with you. How
this No-Smoking tip helps you stay off cigarettes? Read on.

1. The first part of the No-Smoking tip – Never buy your own cigarettes means that if
you smoke, you would need someone to offer you one. Most people do not like to share
their cigarettes on a regular basis and if you are identified as one who is out for
freebies, you would very soon be a loner.

2. The second part of the quit smoking tip – Never carry a pack of cigarettes with you.
This means that you cannot depend on having a cigarette when you need one –
behavior change, and hence, you would outgrow the dependency on it over time.

Don’t just let this No-Smoking advice go in one ear and then out the other.

Don’t wait until it’s too late...Give up now.
