Jesus Saving Work in Acts

The theme of this book is that the new age has dawned and God has
fulfilled his covenantal promises in Jesus Christ. We have seen in the
Gospels the supremacy of Jesus Christ and the centrality of Christology.
We have also noted that all four Gospels are narratives that point toward
Jesus cross and resurrectionpassion narratives with extended introductions.
The high Christology of the Gospels reveals that Jesus saves via
his work on the cross because of who he is. When we come to the book
of Acts, we consider the period of time subsequent to Jesus death and
resurrection, and we observe the spread of the Christian movement. In
Acts Jesus Christ and his death and resurrection are still central. Hence,
it is useful to consider the Christology of Acts and Gods saving work in
Christ. It will become clear that Acts does not deviate from the message
of the Synoptic Gospels, though it now looks back on the ministry, death,
and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
