Montessori's belief that "Liturgy is the

Origin of the word "atrium" - the space in the
ancient basilica between the street and interior
of the Church; a place in which the assembly
prepared itself to enter into the liturgy, where
catechumens were formed.

Beginning of a life long Collaboration
1950s Montessorian, Adele
Costa Gnocchi brought the
skilled Montessorian, Giana
Gobbi and the Theologian, Sofia

the spirituality of the Child,

Sofia Cavalletti and Gianna Gobbi
1954 - Sofia Cavalletti and
Gianna Gobbi began their work
with children. Sofia describes
their Collaboration

In my memory, it was Giannas work to take
the children by the hand and lead them to
the Word of God, while Sofia brought the
Word of God to the Children. In every
material that I look at, I see Giannas pencils
and pens, and also my saws. There is no
material that was only her work or only
mine.Essential Realities p.49
