Calaan Elementary School was established in 1983. It was first named as Calaan Primary School.

The lot
used by the school was donated by Porferio Q. Rapada with a land area of 2,500 square meters. The school has
one Army type building with two instructional classrooms and one PTA constructed makeshift building for the
Kindergarten class. Other structures include the school stage and one shared comfort room. The school has
enough space for any DepEd programs and projects.

At present, Calaan Elementary School is composed of two dedicated teachers. One of the teachers is a
resident on the place and the other one is from nearby sitio Calangag who is commuting every day. The school is
a Multi-grade type with one teacher handling (3) three grade levels while the pre-school teacher is solely
dedicated to his own level and also handles remedial reading classes.

The school has a population of sixty one (61) for the school year 2013-2014 of which there are thirty seven
(37) males and (24) females, Kindergarten to Grade VI pupils.


























SCHOOL HISTORY & PROFILE

Calaan Elementary School is implementing the Revised Basic Education Curriculum for the Grade III up to
Grade VI levels and K to 12 Basic Education Curriculum for Kindergarten up to Grade II for school year 2013-2014
until such time the K to 12 Basic Education Curriculum will be fully implemented.

The school staff is continually developing in its need to cope up with the ever changing methods of teaching.
They are required to attend seminars and in-service trainings to cope up with these changes. The ability to adapt
and make use of available materials is also an aspect that the staff has to develop. This was also recognized by
the higher departments and was offset by providing trainings and seminars to cope up with this need. Teachers
have been trained at the school, district, division, and regional levels. Although for higher training activities, all
the personnel could not be sent at one time, yet, as much as possible, everybody is given a chance.
