This book is an inside recollection of French captain Andre Laffargues insight on
everything involving battle during trench warfare. The author makes a point that the entire idea
of trench warfare is to assault and seize. The strategies are then laid out pointing which points of
attack are significant during any given kind of battle. This book can be useful to my paper in
order to state the main plan of attack method during trench warfare. It is also great because it
gives substantial information on many different scenarios and how they are handled in trench
warfare.

Edward Madigan is a historian of the Great War and a lecturer of first world studies at the
University of London. This article deals with the courage that was involved with being an
infantryman in trench warfare. The soldiers who fought on the front lines were essentially
expendable with the type of warfare that they dealt with. This could be helpful to my paper
because it shows the courage of soldiers that struggled to survive in the front lines. This could
give a realistic perception on how the mind of a soldier on the frontline worked.

World War I. The livability of trenches is talked about throughout this article, because besides
fighting in them soldiers had to live in trenches. The importance of trenches being the front lines
of most battles is also discussed. I think that this can be used in my paper to display the
importance of trenches not only in battle but for shelter.

water supply and how the trenches were used to store water. With water being a primary
resource it is important to know how water war supply was maintained during World War I. This
could be used for my paper in order to make the point of how much priority was involved with
hydrology in trench warfare.

war.

This article by Sophie Winter explained the innovation of barbed wire that was
incorporated into trench systems during World War I. This played a pinnacle role in the defenses
of German battalions keeping many dangers out freely. This can be useful to my paper to
observe the obstacles that the infamous German barbed wire created during World War I.
