Dear Parents,
Id like to thank all of you who came to Back to School Night last Thursday
evening. I hope you left feeling informed and excited about your childs school
year. We had discussed my sending out pictures of our daily homework through
ClassDojo and I wanted to assure you I had not forgotten. On Sunday morning, I
was given an amazing opportunity to attend the 2014 STEM conference at the San Diego Convention center this
past Monday and Tuesday. Just as we are instilling the value of being life-long learners into our students here at
OLSH, I know that I am also still learning, and try to take up new learning opportunities when they arise. I had an
amazing time at the conference and learned a lot that I cannot wait to bring back to our community here at the
school. With my being away from the classroom the past two days though, you may have noticed some out of the
norm routines. I assure you that we will be getting right back on track today, while catching up on some missed
work from the past two days.
If you have been checking ClassDojo regularly this week, you will notice there has been no report due to
my absence. However, I did have the sub manually keep track of their behavior and will input points from the past
two days this afternoon. However, I dont think I can go back and input points in previous dates, so they will look
like they are all from today, even though it will be a mix of Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. I will try and add
comments where I think its necessary to help in any way I can, but as usual, if you are unsure or unclear about
something, just e-mail or message me and I will clarify as much as possible.
Well finish off this week finishing up Chapter 1, Place Value in Math, reviewing any sticky concepts that
may need some more clarification. We are still having a few different potential math intervention teachers testing
the waters this week, so it looks like we should have the position filled by the start of next wee. Last week we read
all about Weather and with the beginning of fall this week the students are working on a Science/Art project that
colorfully displays the different seasons and how they are viewed at different times. We have discussed in class
how we can continue Jesus Ministry and brainstormed possible examples that we will continue to discuss. Im
currently trying to plan out our next large unit that will be utilized through multiple content areas. I am still
deciding between two that I think will be really rewarding, but whichever one it is, we will begin it next week.
Thank you to those who sent in donated treats from back to school night, and as always, please contact me if
you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you, and God Bless!
Ms. Krisman
