FLOWER SHOW & OTHER AGM COMPETITIONS
JUDGING
Decisions made by the Judge(s) will be based upon the guidelines included in the Ontario Judging
and Exhibiting Standards for Horticulture and Floral Design 2003 (OJES) in conjunction with any
criteria included in the Show Schedule specific to the Division/Class. Criteria stated in the Show
Schedule take precedence over OJES.
Decision(s) of the Judge(s) is/are final.
EXHIBITING/PLACING EXHIBITS
The decision(s) of the AGM Show Chair(s) regarding exhibit queries/placement is binding.
Exhibitors must be registered for AGM 2015 in order to place exhibits into the Show.
Exhibitors are allowed one entry per class.
Exhibitors are requested to fill out an entry tag, unless otherwise stated in the Show Schedule. You
may use your Club/Society entry tags. Extra entry tags will be available. Included on the upper
portion of the entry tag that remains visible on the show table, are the Section, Class #, Class
name, common name (if applicable), & botanical name (if possible). The information on the lower
portion of the entry tag should be securely turned under so that the exhibitors name is not visible.
Please include Name & Club/Society. This information is essential for accurate record
keeping of AGM show statistics.
In order to encourage the educational aspect of Shows, it is requested that exhibitors make every
effort to include proper botanical (Latin) names, in addition to the common name, or name given for
the Class. There is a good deal of reference material available for this purpose, including nursery
catalogues, books, tags from purchases etc. The judge(s) look(s) upon labeling /identification
favourably.
Containers for specimens: shall be provided by the exhibitor; shall be clean, clear, uncoloured glass.

ENTRY DEADLINES
Exhibits must be in place and exhibitors must have left the Show Area no later than 9:00 a.m. No
late entries will be accepted.
Judging will begin at 9:30 a.m.
DIVISION 1 HORTICULTURE:
Note:

For any Class, to which stem length applies, measurement will be taken along the
lengths of stems from the tabletop to the stem or floral tip; container bottoms count
into the length, so please take this into account & measure accordingly.

Section A

Horticultural Specimens (General)

Tulips are shown with foliage, but with no more than two sets of leaves attached to the
stem. The white part at the bottom of the stem should be cut off. Check bulb
catalogues for identification & names.

PHOTOGRAPHIC COMPETION RULES & REGULATIONS


Note:

District 17 is not responsible for loss or damage sustained (mailing or otherwise) to


any entries in Division IV
This competition is open to all paid up members of OHA District 17, Durham
One entry per class per exhibitor.
Photos must have been taken by the exhibitor, during the last 24 months (from date of entry
deadline)
Prints may be digital or film in origin. Photographs to incorporate nature and/or horticultural content.
Prints may not have WON at any previous District 17 AGM photographic competitions. Cropping is
permitted. Distracting elements may be cut off, providing the remaining portion is no smaller than
4x4. Use discretion when cropping: be careful not to cut off portions such as leaf tips/other, which
may affect the flow in any given photograph.
Prints not to be larger than 4x6 and MUST be mounted on a 5x7 piece of white Bristol board
matting unless otherwise stated.
Noticeable and/or Excessive digital retouching will result in disqualification. Decision of the Judge
is final.
Names of exhibitors and winners will be posted with the AGM Photographic Competition display.
Discretion is advised regarding the inclusion of people & pets in photographs submitted for
adjudication.
Entries must be picked up at the end of the meeting. Unredeemed entries will not be returned to
Exhibitors.
