PRESS RELEASE.

For Immediate Release

London, 24
th
September 2014

Kurdish women on hunger strike in Parliament Square to protest ISIS
attacks on Kurds in Western Kurdistan (North Syria) and the British
governments silence on the issue.

Since 15
th
September ISIS terrorist gangs have been attacking the Kurdish town
of Kobane in Western Kurdistan (Northern Syria). They have besieged villages
surrounding the city and have beheaded, enslaved and massacred children,
women and men. The fighting is ongoing as the ISIS gangs attack Kurdish fighters
of the YPG with tanks and advanced US military technology. The YPG fighters
have only basic arms.

Thousands of people have fled this barbaric terror and taken refuge in other
areas of the city. Over 10,000 people have crossed over the border into Northern
Kurdistan (Turkey). The Turkish state and AKP government, who have been
supporting ISIS for the past two years, eventually let the people in, but inflated
the figures to 130,000. The reason for this is that the Turkish state want to create
a buffer-zone in Western Kurdistan (Northern Syria) to divide the Kurds of
Turkey and Syria and prevent the self-rule and autonomy of Kurds in Western
Kurdistan.

Currently the lives of 500,000 people are in grave danger as the ISIS attacks
intensify on three fronts against Kobane. If the international community does not
support the Kurds in stopping ISIS terrorism, another genocidal campaign
similar to that of the Yazidi Kurds awaits the Kurds of Western Kurdistan.

To raise awareness and develop solidarity with British public opinion we are
chaining ourselves to the Parliament gates on the morning of Tuesday 23
rd

October and beginning an indefinite hunger strike.

We, the Kurdish women in the UK, ask the British government to support the
Kurds of Western Kurdistan and especially Kobane with humanitarian and
military aid.

We ask that womens organisations in the UK and internationally make the
situation of women in the hands of ISIS their number one agenda.

We ask that the British media cover more closely Kurdish activism in the UK.

We ask that the UN prevent Turkeys desire to create buffer-zone in Western
Kurdistan (Northern Syria).

We ask that British public opinion and media outlets support us in defeating ISIS
terror in Kurdistan.
