The origin of the Hare Krishnas (International Society for Krishna Consciousness or ISKCON) dates back

to the fifteenth century (1486), when Chaitanya Mahaprabhu first taught that Krishna was the supreme Lord above
every other god. Established in New York and San Francisco Hare Krishna consciousness was brought to America by A.C.
Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.
According to the sacred texts, Bhagavad Gita and Bhagavat Purana, Krishna is the supreme God, who
oversees millions of demigods who are seen as administrators of the universal affairs

will come forth; those who did the good deeds to a resurrection of life, those who committed the evil deeds to a
resurrection of judgment.
John4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Belief that god IS everything
People who practice Hare Krishna believe that salvation must be earned by performing a series of works. Also one
must practice disciplinary devotion by chanting the name of God, hearing and singing his praises, meditating upon
the divine play and deeds of KRSNA, and engaging in the rites and ceremonies of worship. The Bible says that we
all have sinned against God. Therefore we need a Savior: "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God"
(Romans 3:23); "For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord"
(Romans 6:23). Self-denial and sacrifice are crucial for salvation in ISKCON. This salvation is Self-denial and
sacrifice is crucial for salvation in ISKCON. There is also belief in reincarnation and/or transmigration of the soul.
This theory is anti-biblical. We are spirit beings, dwelling in bodies on Earth. After this life, are ashes to ashes and
dust to dust. (Ecclesiastes 12:7) After life on Earth we either go to two places.
At physical death, the life force recycles (reincarnates) into another form. There are two possibilities in the
reincarnation cycle. You either reincarnate into heaven or hell. These arent single locations, but are part of
temporal cosmos. And on this planet there are nice places, hellish places and in between places, in the universe as a
whole there are heavenly planets, hellish planets and in-between planets. On the heavenly planets, life is superior
to life on earth. On the hellish planets life is worse. One is elevated to a heavenly planet by good karma from the
performance of godly deeds, or consigned to hell by bad karma from evil deeds. And when people perform good
deeds, they regain their original and spiritual consciousness. Then advance to a spiritual perfection, which also
qualifies them to return to the eternal spiritual world. This is where they can enjoy the presence of Krishna.

he or she will take in the next life.

Chanting, dancing, and feasting
During the 1960s and 1970s, Hare Krishnas were so prevalent in public places such as airports that laws had to be passed
to prevent them from accosting people with their often aggressive and intimidating demands for money.

Hare Krishna is a cult
Swami Prabhupada brought the movement formally called the International Society of Krishna Consciousness
to the U.S. in 1966. Public dancing and chanting became its trademark.
