KYIV, Sep 4, 2014 (UBO) A private gymnasium* started its work at Kyiv Islamic Cultural
Center with the solemn opening ceremony on September 1, 2014. The study plan, fulfilling
the obligatory state education program, also makes a good showing by advanced study of
foreign languages (English and Arabic), lessons on Ethics and Ethnic traditions.

Islam in Ukraine said the gymnasium is semi-pension; pupils will get halal meals and an
opportunity to stay at an after-school center afterhours.

This is the only Muslim gymnasium in Kyiv at present. Its not necessary, however, to be
Muslim to become a pupil every child is equally welcome.

Maximum attention for each pupil is a peculiarity of this school; each class contains 5 to 15
children. Besides having high professional qualifications, the teachers are expected to help
each child fulfil his or her personal and creative potential.

More than 40 pupils are registered at the school at present; many Muslim families,
however, find this project interesting and are considering the possibility to transfer their
children either in the current or next school year. In addition to Arabic, children will study
the Holy Quran, gymnasium founders said.
