Comenius Project HOPE for the FUTURE :

Impressions on the 4
th
meeting in Szeged, HUNGARY

We are a group of five Italian students: Martina, Federica, Francesca, Andrea T. e Andrea G. who
represented two classes IV ASI and V CG from Istituto Tecnico Commerciale e per Geometri E.
Fermi of Pontedera (PISA) Italy. We took part in the 4
th
Comenius Meeting HOPE for the
FUTURE in Szeged in Hungary from 16
th
March to 22
nd
March 2014 with two of our teachers.
Szeged is a lovely city. It is the third largest city in Hungary situated near the southern border of
Hungary on the banks of the river Tisza. The city has beautiful buildings, palaces, a wonderful
cathedral, wide avenues and a famous University.
The host institution, Szabad Waldorf ltalnos Iskola s Gimnzium, is a lovely and friendly school
in Szeged attended by children of different ages.
We were hosted by Hungarian students and their families. The students and families were very
helpful. We really felt at home.
We can say that it was a wonderful experience because we got the chance to meet the people who
are taking part in the Comenius project and, at the same time, to visit a new country. Besides
Szeged we visited Budapest and spent two days there. We were very impressed by its beauty.
All the boys and the girls there were very friendly and easy-going.
We worked together with the students of the Romanian, Portuguese, Turkish, Hungarian teams
during the volunteer action day. We planted flowers, painted fences, cleaned at the Playground of
the Knights of Malta in a disadvantaged area of Szeged. We were proud of our work because we
felt active European citizens that try to help other people and improve our world.
We spent our leisure time with our partners: so we understood what Hungarian life-style is like,
how young people spend their evenings and we realized that there are a lot of similarities and
differences between our countries.
We enjoyed Hungarian food which tastes different from ours because it is very spicy and we had a
good time taking part in all the activities at school and outside (Welcome Dinner with Folk music
and dance on Monday, the Spa-Aquapolis on Tuesday, the mini-dictionary workshop, the visits to
Szeged, Pcs, etc).
We were very happy to visit Hungary and to meet a lot of students from other European countries.
It was a great experience. We had extra time to hang out with our friends from our classes.
During the week in Hungary we met many people from different countries and different cultures. It
was so interesting to talk to people from different parts of Europe. And we could get information
about how people live in Hungary and some national customs and traditions too.
So we spent an unforgettable week in Hungary.
This experience exceeded our expectations. We only have good words to say about this journey and
our stay in Szeged and Hungary.
The whole project was great because we learnt a lot about other countries, we worked together with
other European students in harmony.
We are really very happy to have had this kind of opportunity, thanks to the European Comenius
Project, because, in our opinion, experiences like this help you grow up and mature, even if we
were sometimes homesick. Moreover it helps to broaden our outlook on life.
We would like to meet everybody again in the future and we are sure we will never forget the
wonderful time spent in Hungary.
