Goal1:Learnhowtoteachstudentshowtousetechnologywithintheclassroom

Usingtechnologywithintheclassroomcanenhanceclassroominstructionandhelpstudentsachievehigh
expectations.Beforethetransformationcanoccur,studentsmustbetaughttheskillstheywillneedto
navigatetheonlineworldincludingidentifyingcrediblesources,discerningthetrivialfromtheconsequential,and
preservinguntiltheyfindtheinformationtheywantorneed(Armstrong,2014,pg.41).Theteacherhastobe
onetohelpstudentslearnhowtechnologyisusefulintheclassroom.Asateacherthereareprofessional
developmentopportunitiestohelplearnhowtointegratetechnologywithintheclassroom.Whenitcomesto
usingnewteachingmethods,professionaldevelopmentopportunitiesplayanimportantroleinensuringthatwe
maketheverybestofourresourcesandcreateanenhancedlearningexperienceforourstudents(Skinner,
2011,pg.6).TeachingstudentshowtousetechnologyisimportantsoasateacherIcanutilizethemany
differentopportunitiesstudentshavewhenusingtechnology.Strategiestohelpimplementteachingstudents
howtousetechnologyshouldbefunandvisual.Makingsurestudentsseeanexamplebeforeapplyingwillhelp
thembecomesuccessfulatlearninghowtousetechnology.AnotherstrategythatImightcouldusewouldbe
toletstudentsexploretechnologyontheirownandtocomeupwithquestionsastheyseefit.Thisisalittle
scaryasateacher,butitwillhelpthestudentsfeelliketheyareincontrol.

AfterteachingmystudentshowtousetechnologyintheclassroomIwouldmakesuretheyunderstandby
givingthemanassignmentintegratingtechnologywithinalesson.Iwouldgivethemsimplestepstofollowand
leaveituptothemtomakeitasindepthastheywantedittobe.Thiswillhelpmeknowwhatstudents
understandthebasicsandwhichstudentscangoalittledeeper.Mylessonplanswouldincludeatechnology
componentwhennecessary,andIwouldtrytoincorporatetechnologywithintheclassroomatleastoncea
weektostartoutwith.HopefullybytheendoftheyearwhenIhaveachievedthisgoalIwouldbeusing
technologyonadailybasisandmystudentswouldknowhowtomanipulateitwithintheclassroom.

Goal2:Toutilizetechnologywithintheclassroomtopromotestudentcenterlearning

Technologycanbeusedtohelppromotestudentcenterlearningwithintheclassroom.Inessencetechnology
istransformingstudentsintoexplorersandteachersintoguides(Armstrong,2012,pg.41).Lettingstudents
takecontrolovertheirownlearningisimportantbecauseitmakeseducationpersonalandallstudentswantto
knowwhywhattheyarelearningwouldbenefitthemoutintherealworld.Alsoifastudentdiscoversaconcept
ontheirownitismorelikelytheywillrememberit.Utilizingtablets,smartphones,andwhiteboardsto
encouragestudentstoexploretheInternetasalegitimateresourceandtocollaboratewithotherstudentsor
teacherscanengagetheirstudentsinwaysthatlecturesandtextbooksdonot(Armstrong,2012,pg.41).
Technologyhelpsthestudentsgetinvolved.DuringthiscourseIamwantingtolearndifferenttechnology
strategiesthatwillhelpmemeetmygoalofpromotingstudentcenterlearning.Learningmoreactivitiesto
achievethiswouldbegreatinthisclass.Strategiescanbeveryhelpfultoo.ThefirststrategyIwoulduse
wouldbetointegratetechnologybyusingatopicthestudentsareinterestedinsuchassports.MaybeIcanlet
thestudentsresearchstatisticsforsportathletesandusetheminamathlesson.Thiswouldhelpencourage
studentstousetechnologyandalsogainaninterestinthemathclassroom.Studentsaregoingtoneed
guidanceatfirstbutattheendtheyshouldbeproficientintheuseoftechnology.

AsateacherIwillknowIhavereachedthisgoalbyassessingmystudentsandseeingiftheycanachieve
learningtargetsbyimplementingtechnologywithintheclassroom.InmylessonplansIamgoingtohavea
technologypiecewherestudentsusetechnologytodiscoverthelearningtargetwearehittingthatdayinclass.
Whenstudentsperformthistasktheyshouldbeexposedtothetopicthatwillbeintroducedandstudents
shouldgetabasisoverwhatthetopicisabout.Teachersnearlyuniversallyagreethatlaptopsandtablets
havebeenshowntoimproveclassroomparticipation(Armstrong,2012,p.41).Whenstudentsstartengaging
inthelessonsyouknowasateacheryouhavemetthegoalofcreatingastudentcenteredenvironment.
Researcherscredittechnologyasaprimarymethodtoempowerstudentstotakecontroloftheirownlearning
(Armstrong,2012,pg.41).

Goal3:Togetstudentsinterestedinamathematics

AsamathematicsteacherIwantmystudentstobecomeinterestedinthefieldofmathematicsoutsideofthe
classroom.Usingtechnologywithinmyclassroomcanhelpbuildthisinterestwithinmystudents.
SignificantlymorestudentswhousemobiledevicesintheclassroomexpressastrongerinterestinSTEM
subjectsthanstudentswhodonotusetheirdevicesinclass(Armstrong,2012,p.40).Byallowingtechnology
inmyclassroomthiswillencouragemorestudentstobeinterestedinthefieldsofmathandscience.Twoout
ofthreestudentswhouselaptopsinclasssaythatithelpsthemlearnmathandsciencebetter(Armstrong,
2012,p.40).Technologyisagreattoolwithintheclassroom.Itgoeswithoutsayingthattechnologyisan
increasinglypowerfultoolformotivatingstudentsintheclassroomduetoitsabilitytocaptivateawiderangeof
learners(Skinner,2011,pg.6).Whenstudentsseethatlearningcanbefunitwillencouragethemtogo
deeperwiththeireducationalexperience.InthiscourseIwouldliketolearnhowtoutilizetechnologyformy
mathematicsclassspecificallysoIcanmeetthisgoalofencouragingstudentstobeinterestedin
mathematics.Eventhekidwhothinkshedoesntknowanything.Iwanttobeabletoreachthatkid.Within
theclassroomIhavealwaysbeenkeentomakethemostoftechnologyIhavefoundittobeatoolthathasthe
powertoengageeventhemostreluctantoflearners(Skinner,2011,p.6).Creatingstrategiestomeetthis
goalwilltakesomeplanningfromtheteacher,butallowingtechnologywithintheclassroomwillhelpspuronthe
interestofthemathematicsandsciencefieldswithouttheteacherevenaddressingtheissue.

AsamathematicsteacherIwillknowIhavereachedthisgoalbecauseIwillseethatmystudentshavean
interestinmathematics.TheywillbeengagedinlearningandIwillhavethemtalkingabouthowtheycanuse
whattheylearnedinclassintheirdailylife.ThisisexcitingformeasateacherandIknowtechnologycanhelp
memeetthisgoal.
