Label and describe each type of food preparation and cooking


technique

Picture Cooking Technique

Slicing: this technique involves cutting thin slices of
a food object. It is done with a knife and can be
done to chicken, meat, vegetables, fish etc. this
technique is usually used in salads, burgers,
sandwiches and many more. Its difficulty out of 5
is in my opinion 2.

Grating: this technique involves serrating thin
slices of a food object into small pieces. It is done
with a grater and can be used with many fruits ,
vegetables , cheese etc. this technique is used In
many dishes including pastas , salads , burgers ,
sandwiches , pizzas etc. its difficulty out of 5 is in
my opinion a 2.

Dicing: this technique first involves slicing an
object horizontally and vertically then cutting
horizontally down the fruit or vegetable. This
technique is used in almost all meals. Its difficulty
out of 5 is in my opinion a 3. Especially with
onions. It becomes very difficult


Boiling: this technique involves putting for
example pasta in a pot of water that has reached
boiling point. This process takes around 8-11
minutes depending on what type of pasta. This
technique is used for some meals including pasta
dishes, boiled potato, mashed potato, broccoli but
mostly all dishes as a preparation step. Its difficulty
out of 5 in my opinion is a 1.

Baking: this technique involves putting a food
material into a hot oven and allowing it to cook. It
usually takes around 20 minutes to about 1 hour
depending on what you are baking this technique
is used when making cakes, vegetable bakes, oven
fries, roasts etc... Its difficulty out of 5 is in my
opinion a 1.

Frying: this technique involves putting food
material into hot oil. This will cook the material
youre putting in the oil. It usually takes from 5- 15
minutes depending on what youre cooking .this
technique is used when frying chicken snitzel,
frying chips, vegetables etc. its difficulty out of 5 is
in my opinion a 3.

Peeling: this technique involves using a potato
peeler to peel the skin off a vegetable , peel a
vegetable into slices etc. this is used when making
salads , sandwiches , burgers , pastas etc. its
difficulty out of 5 in my opinion is a 2.

Whisking: this technique involves wet food
material being mixed or beaten with a whisk it is
used to make liquids , mixes etc. it is used in cake
dishes , omelets , pies etc. its difficulty out of 5 in
my opinion is a 1.

Sifting: this technique involves using a sifter to get
clumps out of dry food material including flour ,
sugar , icing mixture etc. it is used in many dishes
including cakes , deserts , sauces etc. its difficulty
out of 5 is in my opinion a 2.

Mixing: this technique involves using either and
electric mixer or a wooden spoon to mix wet and
dry ingredients together. It is used in many dishes
including brownies, cakes, meringues, Greek and
Italian traditional biscuits etc. its difficulty out of 5
is in my opinion a 1.
