BIO FLUSHING PROCEDURE OF COOLING TOWER
HINDALCO POWER

STEP-01:

Close all blow-down and take fresh make-up to compensate the evaporation loss.
Shock dose 20ppm of Indion-9079 on system volume.
After one hour shock dose 100ppm of biocide Sodium Hypochlorite on system volume.
Maintain circulating water pH in between 7.0 to 7.5 and continue circulation.
After 24 hours of circulation start heavy blow down and increase make up rate to
compensate evaporation and blow down losses.
Bottom Blow down from cooling tower basin to remove dead algae masses.


Monitoring:.
Monitor following parameters:
a. pH - Hourly (maintain 7.0 to 7.5)
b. Turbidity - Hourly
c. TVC and SRB - To be check before and after Bio Flushing

d. FRC - minimum 0.5ppm ( Shock dose Sodium Hypo chlorite to
Maintain the same if required)


Initially Bio Flushing to be done every fortnightly and after three month of the
same it will be Monthly once.
