Sample Process Application

One step in the Enviro Companys sludge conversion process is neutralizing acids and
alkali in the sludge. The treatment process involves four steps:
1. Adding and mixing water with the sludge.
2. Adjusting the sludge's pH to neutralize any acid or alkali.
3. Adding potassium, nitrogen, and phosphorus to produce different grades of
fertilizer.
4. Pumping the prepared sludge to the filter press where excess water is removed
to form fertilizer briquettes.
The remainder of this chapter focuses on the second step: pH adjustment.

pH Adjustment Tank

The steps required to adjust the pH are:
1. Test the pH level using pH measurement sensor.
2. If the pH is below 4.5, turn on the pump to add an alkaline solution. If the pH is
above 8.5, turn on the pump to add an acid solution.
3. If the pH is between 4.5 and 8.5, stop all pumps.

Mixer

1) Create a good picture for this process using ifix dynamo sets.
2) Using slider control for checking the above condition then replace the slider
control with RD (sine wave) register for generate pH sensor measurement
values.(instead of pH levels 4.5,5.5,7.5 & 8.5 45,55,75 & 85 in simulator)
3) Using two digital registers to control alkaline & acid motors.
4) Assign alarm condition LOLO =45,LO =55,HI =75 & HIHI =85 and display the
alarm status in that picture & acknowledge the alarm automatically
5) Add one chart display with pens of pH measurement value & two motor statuses.
6) Assign one digital register for mixer and run that mixer every 5sec ON/OFF
condition.
