LESSONS FROM MYTHOLOGY

What would you say, if someone says " You are really great. Nobody else around here could do this so perfectly
as you did. In fact, you have got unique abilities. No one around here is comparable to you ". Wouldn't you
really feel proud of yourself? Wouldn't you accept those compliments? Certainly not, I feel so.
Wait there. Do you really feel that you deserve all those compliments? Are you really the greatest of all around us?
Now, read this story from The Ramayana, the splendid Indian epic.

When Hanuma found Sita in Ashoka Vanam in Lanka, he jumped down very excitedly and stood before Sita and
said that he would take her away very swiftly to Rama safely from Lanka, she first laughed at him seeing his tiny
shape and size. Annoyed by her witty laughs, he immediately transformed himself into a very giant personality.
Seeing his true power and strength, Sita said "You are really great. Nobody else around here could do this so
perfectly as you did. In fact, you have got unique abilities. No one around here is comparable to
you".

Do you know, what Hanuma said? He accepted that he is really very powerful and has got very special abilities. But
he added, "Maa Sita, you are right that I'm very powerful. But you know one thing? To strike a compromise, usually
kings select the one among the troop who is the least powerful and with the least abilities. In this way, you
can guess how powerful and able the rest of the worriers are, in our troop. Though I am powerful, the rest are
hundred times powerful than me. Is this not what is called being "down-to-the-earth". Is this not the attitude we
should possess? It's not wise to, immediately take credit on our own, for something that happens naturally.
Though we put some efforts in doing something good, giving credit to others in times of success and feeling
responsible for the faults, makes even a common man a great leader. It's the attitude shown not only by the great
Hanuma, but also many of the modern-day leader and managers
