ED 500: Qualitative Research Methods in Education

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT (For those who were not able to have their reporting)

Instructions: Please answer the following questions as comprehensively as possible. Use the
appropriate format stated in the course outline. Do not just copy and paste your answers.
Organize your thoughts properly and in a logical manner. Print and submit it to the UV
Graduate School Office or Velez College Nursing Faculty Room and place it in a clear book/
plastic folder.

1. What are the characteristics of a qualitative research? Compare and Contrast qualitative
and quantitative research.
2. In general, what ways can research findings for a qualitative research be used in the
field of education?
3. What topics might you want to study? Cite at least three (3) specific examples in your
field or line of work which a qualitative study may be useful and explain thoroughly.
4. How does qualitative research rely on inductive and deductive reasoning processes?
5. Choose at least two (2) qualitative research approaches (refer to course outline) and
answer the following:
a. What are the procedures and challenges to using each approach to qualitative
research?
b. What are some similarities and differences among the two approaches?
