Objectives: TSW sing a name game to a beat correctly, independently and as a class. TSW create a rhythmic phrase to introduce themselves and their classmates. TSW follow directions by listening to instructions and carry them out throughout the name game. TSW express their name, as well as, the name of their classmates orally.
Lesson Plan: Introduction: Ask students if anyone can tell me what an echo is. If someone can tell me what an echo is, say Correct! We are going to play a name game that will use an echo. If students cant tell me what an eco is, say An echo is a reflection of sound, hearing what you said repeated."
Process: 1. Direct students attention the board that has the lyrics written on the board. Tell the students that the lyrics for the song are sung to the tune of Fere Jacques. I am ____________ He/She is ________ Thats my name, Thats her/his name, I am glad to be here, We are glad that youre here, At school today, At school today.
2. Explain how we will go around in a circle introducing ourselves, and our friends will echo what we say. 3. Lead students in starting the song for the echo game and point to them when it is their turn to say the follow up echo line. 4. Start singing the echo name game. I am Mrs. B. Point to the students to say She is Mrs. B. Continue throughout the song.
Accommodations: 1. For a student with ADHD I will write the lyrics to the song on the board. 2. For an ELL student have their pre-assigned peer tutor translate any words they may not understand.
Assessment/Evaluation: 1. At some point while going around the circle participating in the echo portion to see if the students are able to keep the continue without your lead. 2. At the end of going around the circle singing the echo name game song go around the circle again and have each student tell them one friends name. Rationale: The students will learn each others names through a musical name game.
