Dear Parents and Guardians,

The 2014-15 school year has begun and I am very excited to have your child in my Algebra II
class this year. I am writing this letter in hopes of beginning a communication link between
school and home. I would like to keep you up to date on your childs progress as well as to
inform you of any upcoming events.

First of all, I want you to know that your son/daughter will receive a progress report for each
class every 3 weeks regardless of their grade. Second, you can check your childs progress
between reports on Parent Self Serve so there will never be any surprises. I will make sure to
enter grades on a weekly basis.

As a parent, you can be a key source of motivation and support for your child. It is imperative
that students participate in class by taking notes and working examples as well as completing
ALL assignments ON TIME. Monitor their work, and if he/she is not progressing satisfactorily,
you can encourage them to seek help. Tutoring is available at various times and a schedule will
be posted.

I want to help all of my students succeed in this class, preparing them for life after high school
and encouraging them to strive for excellence. With your help providing encouragement and
support at home, I believe each student can achieve his/her maximum potential. Please feel

I have received the Course Guidelines, Parent Letter, Instructions for the online textbook, and understand
that my child will be using a TI-84 calculator for class use and if my child abuses or loses the calculator
assigned to them, I will be responsible for replacing the calculator. The calculators cost approximately
$100. You child may use a personal calculator (TI-83+, TI-84) if they have one with prior approval from
the teacher.
