Beauty in Numbers For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts (Isaiah 55:9, King James Version). Gods thoughts are higher than ours (Is. 55:9) and that can be shown throughout the math concepts Burger & Starbird (2010) present within the details explained in:
Geometry (p. 307) Gods designs are detailed
Coincidences and Probability (p. 562) Divinely ordered and calculated
Statistics and Research (p. 644) Balance in truth
Similarities and Fractals (p. 174, 493) Infinite beauty and depth
Geometry The flower on the right has been created to show different dimensions (Burger & Starbird, 2010, p. 315).
At first glance one would see six designs. What is not seen in this slide are the designs that brought this flower to this point of design. It is only half done and there is already much detail put into it.
In the same way God uses detail to build upon all of His creations.
One can find an example of this in 1 Kings 6, as God gives Solomon detailed instructions on how to build a temple for Him. Coincidences and Probability Burger & Starbird (2010) state that, Many, if not most, significant events in our lives arise from coincidence, randomness, and uncertainty (p.563). The green added onto the flower was not done by coincidence, instead it was done purposefully, to add to its beauty. Mathematically, one can also use probability (p. 617-619) to choose between lots of colors. Figuring out those numbers may/may not be possible. The depths of those numbers can be beyond our comprehension in some cases. Can one guess the next color to be used? Why not give it a try
Was the guess the color black?
One may not be able to figure that out as easy/fast as we would like, but God knows all the details of His creation, and knows them exactly (Matthew 10:30). It is all divinely ordered and calculated.
Statistics and Research If asked how many people chose black, more than likely, someone would lie. After all, some people find it embarrassing to guess wrong. Burger & Starbird (2010) state that, One of the easiest ways survey data can be misleading and inaccurate is if those surveyed simply lied (p. 650). Although most lie, through research and studying, one can get a more honest result. Not only does one need credible sources when making a statement/decision academically, one needs it whenever a lie may be presented instead of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15 states, Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth (King James Version). Similarities and Fractals Similarities can have Endless Infinities (p. 175), like this flower. This flower was also created using oval shaped fractals (p. 505). They changed in color, size, and density; creating this specially crafted flower. From lessons learned in this class, one can see a connection in math and Bible. For instance, God uses special care in His creation (as mentioned before), and keeping in mind the infinites found, one could only imagine to what extent. Knowing that God puts special care into His design, one could definitely agree (in all aspects of life, knowing this can be applied in everything) with the following:
Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose (King James Version).
Detailed all together for one beautiful purpose, creating something He finds beautiful, just like this flower was created! Working all together for good. References Burger, E. B., & Starbird, M.
