Write a paragraph reflecting on the tutoring you have received in August and September.
How has it benefited you? What could make it better? Were you able to meet the
requirement?

Tutoring
Every student should start off their high school career in good standing (attendance, GPA, knowledge, and
credits), in order to make sure each and every student achieves this goal and maintains it with the rigor of
their high school classes, each student is required to attend weekly tutoring.
Tutoring is an opportunity for students to have extra practice with course material, ask questions, discuss
ideas, listen to audio versions of texts we read in class, raise their class grade, work together on
assignments and make-up work.
Late work will only be accepted if the student has attended tutoring with Ms. Cooper.
IF a student is receiving below a C, they will be required to attend mandatory tutoring daily until there is
substantial improvement. Failure to attend tutoring will impact trimester grades and those who miss
mandatory tutoring will be given a detention (three detentions=referral to the office for further
disciplinary action).
Students are required to attend a minimum of one hour of tutoring per week. Tutoring may be with any
of their core subject teachers.
Student Responsibility is what high school comes down to. In order to make sure students are able to
manage their school obligations they will be required to keep an agenda where they write down ALL their
classes assignments/activities and plans for tutoring. They will be awarded a grade for this in addition to
tutoring.
It is the student's responsibility to plan ahead for any obligations after school (such as appointments)
and to make the necessary arrangements.
It is also the students responsibility to ensure they meet the tutoring requirement weekly or make
arrangements with Ms. Cooper to make-up the hour the following week-- such arrangements will only
be made beforehand and on rare occasions.
It is the student's responsibility to communicate with their parent/guardian when selecting a day for
tutoring. Students will need to talk with their parents/guardians about which days fit their schedules best
and make appropriate transportation arrangements.
Students should make tutoring arrangements with their respective teachers in a timely manner and come
prepared to work (not socialize or goof off). Inappropriate behavior will result in a student being
removed from tutoring and not receiving that weeks credit.
During tutoring students may work on multiple assignments from any class-- As long as they are
working.
