Theory of Writing Revision Memo
For the Theory of Writing paper, my revision process was a little bit different from
everyone elses because of some unforeseen circumstances with a failing computer before I was
able to print it out to workshop in class. While most of my other classmates had a workshop and
were able to receive feedback on their paper from their peers, I had to revise my paper myself
without help. I know that I could have received help if I had reached out for it, but I honestly just
preferred to revise it myself and get it over with. To revise this paper, I started out by printing
out a hard copy (I have to have a hard copy in front of me to revise or else my brain just doesnt
cooperate). I then carefully read through it one time without marking anything down and as I
read it, I tried to read as if I had never seen it before. After doing this preliminary run-through, I
picked up my pen and made corrections as I read. I mainly focused on grammar mistakes, re-
wording sentences, and adding a few details. When I was finished with that, my paper was
marked up with my comments and corrections. I then opened my paper on the computer and
made changes according to my own recommendations.
After I had finished making changes to my paper, I read it through one last time to ensure
my satisfaction in its content. My final draft is better than its predecessor because it provides
more insight into the points that I was trying to make, is easier for the reader to understand, and
flows much better than the original document.
