2015 Yearly Joint Commission Compliance Competency

Following the principles of the Donna wright Competency Model, we are offering choices in how the
annual competency can be completed.
Demonstrates the ability to apply Joint Commission Compliance principles to everyday work
situations. Any of the following will be evidence of completing the competency (pick one):
Activity Documentation of completion to be turned into
evaluator
Review PowerPoint presentation on Joint
Commission expectations. JCAHO PowerPoint is
located on the shared drive.
Submit completed post-test. You must get 8/10
correct to pass.
Walk colleague through outcomes board and
accessing unit scorecard on OPIT.
Submit peer review form with colleague signature.

Participate in mock JCAHO visit. Submit participation form with event coordinators
signature.

Work with management to prepare unit for JCAHO
visit.
Submit completed form with coordinators
signature.

Write a synopsis on what the unit is doing to meet
JCAHO requirements regarding National Patient
Safety Goals (NPSG), Surgical Care Improvement
Project (SCIP) Measures, and Unit-Based Outcomes.
Submit completed synopsis.
