1 The height of the Toe guards should be atleast 150 mm
2 The height of the first horizontal bar of the handrailing should not be more than 1 m
The most appropriate height of hand rail is between 30 to34 inches.It should not exceed 34 inches and must not be less than 30 inches
3 The height of the Fire Extinguisher from the floor should be 1 m
4 The Maximum Noise level allowed inside the plant should be 75 dB during day time and 70 dB at night time - Environment (Protection) Rules,1986
The maximum allowable noise level is 90 dB for a continuous 8 hour period - Model Rules of the Factories Act,1948
5 Speed limit for the vehicles inside the plant should not exceed 10 miles per hour (16 Kmph)
6 The minimum Lux level (Illumination level) to be present on the shop floor should be 200 - 300 Lux
7 The minimum height for wearing the harness (Safety belt) should be 4 ft
8 All lifting tools and tackles, slings & Safety belts should be inspected by a competent person once in every six months
9 Material handling equipments such as Fork lifts and Clamp trucks to be inspected once in a year
10 All hoists, Lifts and overhead cranes should be inspected by a competent person once in every six months
11 The maximum safe load shall be plainly marked on every lift & hoist and no load grater than that shall be carried
12 All Pressure vessels and air compressors to be certified annually by competent person
13 All vessels shall be hydraulically tested by a competent person at a pressure marked on the vessel at intervals of not more than 5 years.
14 Structural stability for buildings to be certified by an external party once in every five years

15 Medical checkups for all the employees on site to be done once in a year and the medical reports to be made available
16 Hard hats are required when overhead falling hazards are present. Hard hats must meet ANSI Z89.1 / EN-397 code requirement
17 Safety glasses, worn for In-Plant use, must meet ANSI standard Z87.1
18 Safety Belt / harness should have the ANSI Code Z359.4
19 Steel- toed shoes (or non-metallic toe cap) that meet the 75-pound foot compression rating ANSI Z41.1 / EN-345 code requirement
20 No individual should be allowed to lift more than 30kgs at a given point of time

First-aid boxes or cupboards readily accessible during all working hours with prescribed contents shall be made available; the number of boxes shall not
be less than 1 box per 150 workers
22 Where 250 or more workers are employed a facility of canteen shall be provided & maintained
23 Fork Lift operators should have a valid driving license and should be trained in the operation of the fork lift

Petroleum B class (Diesel) if the quantity at any one place should not exceed 2500 liters & none of the storage should exceed 1000 liters in capacity. If
the quantity exceeds then we have to procure the license for the storage.

Petroleum C class (LPG) if the quantity at any one place should not exceed 45000 liters and if the quantity exceeds then we have to procure the license
for the storage.
26 MSDS for chemicals shall be made available in laboratory and relevant copies shall be kept in points of use in the various departments
27 Spill control kits shall be provided for management and containment of spills wherever possibilities of spills exist
28 The Cut resistant hand gloves should meet the standard of the Dyneema fibres - Grade-3
29 The facility maintains at least one first aid box for every 150 workers employed at an easily accessible location from work areas

At least 14.2 cubic meters of space is provided for every worker so that rooms are not overcrowded to an extent that they are injurious to the health of
workers employed there.

vessel at intervals of not more than five years after the date of first test or two years if the vessel contains
corrosive or toxic gases with a certificate of test issued and a record kept

Are step risers on stairs uniform from top to bottom?
Are steps on stairs and stairways designed or provided with a surface that renders them slip resistant?

Do stairway handrails have at least 3 inches of clearance between the handrails and the wall or surface they
are mounted on?
Where doors or gates open directly on a stairway, is there a platform provided so the swing of the door does
not reduce the width of the platform to less than 21 inches?
Where stairs or stairways exit directly into any area where vehicles may be operated, are adequate barriers
and warnings provided to prevent employees stepping into the path of traffic?
Do stairway landings have a dimension measured in the direction of travel, at least equal to the width of the
stairway?
