Il flm si compone di alcuni brevi corto-
metraggi danimazione del 1930 [ Il picnic
di Topolino (The Picnic, regia di Burt Gillet);
Topolino vince il bandito (The Cactus Kid,
regia di Walt Disney, di cui nella copia ap-
pare solo il primo cartello e non il flm; To-
polino e il gorilla (The Gorilla Mystery, regia
di Burt Gillett); Topolino pompiere (The Fire
Fighters, regia di Burt Gillett)], collegati tra
loro da scene di raccordo con attori reali
che indossano maschere ispirate ai volti
dei noti personaggi disneyani, nella prima
versione disegnata da Ub Iwerks. I dise-
gni animati sono inseriti nellatmosfera
surreale di una notte insonne dei prota-
gonisti spaventati dal temporale e dalle
notizie inquietanti di un quotidiano.
The flm is made of some brief animated
shorts, dated 1930 [The Picnic (directed by
Burt Gillet), The Cactus Kid (directed by Walt
Disney; this copy includes only the open-
ing title, not the whole short), The Gorilla
Mystery and The Fire Fighters (both directed
by Burt Gillett)]. They are joined by linking
scenes, with real actors wearing masks
which reproduce Walt Disneys famous
characters, in the frst version designed by
Ub Iwerks. The surrealistic atmosphere of a
sleepless night permeates the cartoons. The
protagonists, frightened by a storm and the
disquieting news of a newspaper, just cant
sleep.
