Location
 Nepal is located in South Asia, with neighboring
countries such as India, China, Bhutan, and
Tibet.
 Capital is Kathmandu.
Weather

 Weather is subtropical climate.

 There are actually five seasons in Nepal, the


regular four, and then monsoon season, which
is composed mostly of hurricanes and storms
which bring devastation to crops and homes.

Hospitality
 The majority of the population lives in rural
villages.
 Houses are made of mud and bricks.

 Usually five to six people occupy per house, which
only has two rooms, a sleeping room and a
room for cooking.
 Four of 5 urban houses are occupied by their
owners.
Nepalese Markets
 The markets in Nepal are home to innumerable
shops, specializing in jewelry, pottery, food,
and clothes.
 Markets are very crowded.
Cuisine
 Nepal has a wide variety of foods, including curry,
sour and spice pickles, steamed rice, and
numerous vegetables.
Economy

 Nepal is one of the poorest countries in the world.

 Rated the 11th poorest out of 120 countries in


1989.
 Causes include lack of resources, weak
infrastructure, and the institutions for
modernization.

Government/Politics
 Nepal was controlled under monarchy until 1990,
when king Birendra agreed to create a
parliamentary monarchy, meaning the king was
the head of state and the prime minister head
of government.
 Nepal is now a republic, after agreeing to abolish
monarchy completely.
