Anxiety in children

Children love to go out and play and this kind of outdoor physical activity helps in
stimulating their physical, emotional and intellectual growth. Once children come home
from school, they complete their homework, do some odd jobs and then get ready to go
out and play for some time. Children are always in contact with other children of their
age. When there is some kind of tension or anxiety in the air, children have an uncanny
capacity to sense it immediately. This kind of atmosphere will be present during school
programs like the sports day or even during some kind of test or examination. This can
also be attributed to peer pressure. Though a little bit of pressure and competitive spirit
could help in making your child a better performer which is a good thing, anxiety can
sometimes have a detrimental effect on your child and it can elicit a negative response to
a challenging situation.

cause high levels of stress and distraction in the child. There are many children who get
easily frightened of things like frogs, spiders, dogs, demons below the bed, the darkness
etc. This fear can make more attentive, alert and aware of their surroundings. This is one
of the positive outcomes of anxiety in the child. !ut too much of anxiety can interfere in
the normal everyday life of the child and this could also be disastrous.

many children who are constantly worried about something and they feel that they are
going to fail in something or the other. This is a general example of anxiety disorder,
which is being exhibited in a child. When children start worrying too much, positive
thoughts and inspiration filled and encouraging words should be feed into them and they
should learn to think about themselves in a positive manner. "ome children also go
through the phase of a panic disorder, which is normally triggered by a panic attack,
which could be either due to physical or psychological reasons. There are many children
who go through the separation anxiety disorder, which is very common when they are
excessively attached to any one parent or sibling. There are many other kinds of social
phobias, which could be the result of some kind of disorder, and this could arise due to
some inborn fear of certain people or situations. There are many children who like to be
alone and they do not talk to anyone or even interact well with children of their age.

There are many different ways of dealing with anxiety but these should be proven
effective by reputed medical institutions. #arents should make sure that they support their
children in order to ensure that such psychological conditions are treated in the right
manner. Cognitive behavioral therapy can also be used for managing stress in children
and this includes activities like role play, relaxation training, healthy and positive
thinking and also therapy for the entire family.
