Assignment: UI and Testing - Advisory Prep

Clarification:
I havent finished all pages, I just finished pages for main functionalities. And for the
test, I will invite more people to participate in.

Testing approaches:
White-box testing
I will test the site firstly, to see if all functions are the ways as they are supposed to be

Black-box testing
Invite different kinds of people to help play the site. To be specific, I will divide some groups of testers: 1. normal users,
who dont are not professional ITers. 2. ITers, who are/were office workers. 3. Crafters, who are keen to make crafts. 4.
Former team members, who know much about the project and can give insightful suggestions.

Testing directions:
UI correctness
Is the UI rendered correctly involving the animation of javascript?

Is the UI maximally meet the most users preference?

Feedback:
From Liliana:
1. Hard to find sign up.
2. Join us button should go to register page
3. Align the boxes on register page.
4. Send user emails to verify registration
5. Initially let members publish posts without granting privileges by administrator.
6. Make the pics on home page as buttons to redirect to corresponding pages.
7. Some functions(cut and copy) on editing page dont work
8. Positions of insert and cancel buttons in insert/edit box should be changed over
9. The text to be linked should be grabbed in the insert/edit box
10. Some folders like Site Illustration and Site Video and Site Icon should be hide from normal users.
11. Remove the prompt of API information in media box
12. Image editor doesnt work
13. There should be a preview button for post
14. Automatically go to the new post after publishing
15. Should be ok to reply to others comments.
16. Now, the search bar is displayed after clicking the icon, instead it should be on the page initially.
17. Tags should be facilitated for searching function
18. Projection functionality is confused, which should be removed.

From Lee:
1. Search box should be on the page initially.
2. The home page is too long, should be short, which would be better without scrolling down.
3. The pictures on the home pages are too big, which takes a lot of space
4. Difficult to find register page.
5. The theme should be changeable.
6. The share knowledge, view project and blog pics should be clickable.
7. Other pages are too simple.
8. Comment box should be as wide as the post, and should be able to embed images.

From John and Jack:
1. Search box should be on the page initially.
2. Its difficult to find the register page.
3. About link in the navigation bar should be the second one, which means just next to the home link.
4. It would be better if the section of share knowledge, view project and blog are at the bottom.
5. It would be better if there is a more videos button redirects to the videos page on the home page.
6. We can publicize the site by creating a special channel on Youtube.
7. There be an automatically messaging functionality for new post.
8. It is difficult to find register page.
9. In this case, security is not the key point, so the password should not be difficult.
10. Different privileges for different users, for instance anonymous users just have commenting rights.
11. After registration, personal information should be displayed at the top of the page along with sign out button.
12. Dashboard should be combined with user name.
13. There are more detailed information could be updated in profile.
14. On publishing page, time and date should be automatically stamped.
15. The functionality for publishing the post by specific a time on the page is very good.
16. After publishing, the prompt is not clear enough, there should be 2 buttons to indicate edit or create a new one.
17. Unprofessional users just want to access the site on tablet and phone.
18. The editing box on publishing page is very simple but strong, which is very nice.
19. On dashboard, it should view other authors posts rather than editing it, meanwhile it prompts error information.
20. Some site assets should not be accessible for normal user, for instance Site icon, Site illustration and Site video,
because it cause confusion.
21. Media and image gallery should not be accessible for normal users.
22. Test for blog is ambiguous.
23. Projection in dashboard is confused.

From Neil:
1. Pics of share knowledge, view project and blog should be links to corresponding pages.
2. The three sections below are in an open space.
3. Registration page is too hard to find.
4. Profiles should contain photos.
5. Register link should be easy to find out.
6. The layout of most button are too plain and dull to find.
7. Not easy to find publishing functionality.
8. Time of publishing should be automatically stamped.
9. Confused after publishing post, which should be redirected to the post page rather than staying on the
publishing page.
10. In the editor box of the publishing page, there are no color and highlight functionalities.
11. Projection on the dashboard is confused.
12. Clicking other authors post on the dashboard should view it rather than editing it.
13. Clone of post is confused.
14. Cant alter (@) other members.
