Course Description
This course is designed for the development of skills and knowledge of certain activitiessports
in which the student can participate throughout a lifetime. Emphasis will !e placed on individual
physical fitness. Proper care of e"uipment and safety in the classrooms are other aspects of the
course.
Course Objectives
#. $oster healthy lifestyles !y developing a mentality that supports life%long physical activity through fitness and
sports.
&. Perfection of fundamental skills necessary for participation in team' dual' and individual sports.
(. )evelopment of au*iliary or additional skills necessary for participation in team' dual' and individual sports.
+. ,ritten and practical knowledge of the rules' strategies' and analysis of skills are needed to understand the sport.
-. Proper care of e"uipment and safety in the classroom and other aspects of the course.

Attendance
A physical education student is e*pected to !e dressed and ready to participate each day of class.
If a student is in attendance at school' they are e*pected to !e in attendance in physical education class.
Tardy 8 0tudent is not in hisher assigned location #4 minutes after the !ell to end passing period. There will
!e a &%point deduction from the daily grade. E*cessive tardies will result in detention' $riday 0chool'
suspension' etc. as prescri!ed in the 0tudent 9and!ook.
Participation
#. 0tudents are e*pected to participate on a daily !asis to the !est of their a!ility.
&. If a student is una!le to participate in physical education class' they should !ring a note from home or a
doctor.s note to e*cuse them.
(. A doctor.s note is required after two 5&6 consecutive days of non%participation.
+. 0tudents who have a medical issue 5i.e. !roken !one' long%termlengthy illness6 that prevents their
participation in class in e*cess of two 5&6 days' MUST present a written doctor.s note with doctor
suggestions for alternate activities the student may participate in 5i.e. walking instead of running' sit%ups
instead of push%ups' may !atfield !ut not run !ases6. The principal' parent5s6' student' and teacher will
meet to developimplement a 0ection -4+ Plan.
-. The student MUST also have a doctor.s release to return to full class participation after an e*tended
period of non%participation.
:. Any student not receiving credit for a "uarter of a re"uired class will !e re"uired to repeat an entire
semester of Physical Education.
;. 0tudents who are a!sent during skills testing will !e re"uired to make up their testing during
Intervention time.
Dressing out for P.E.
#. 0tudents are re"uired to wear P.E. attire 5T%shirt and shorts6. $ailure to do so will result in deduction of
points from student daily grade.
&. Athletic shoes with socks are to !e worn< properly tied and secured to the foot.
(. $lip flops and !are feet are =>T accepta!le as this presents a safety concern. 0tudents ,I?? =>T !e
allowed to participate and will forfeit their daily participation points.
+. 0weatshirts' hoodies' sweatpants may !e worn over the uniform when weather deems appropriate.
=ot accepta!le when inside for class.

%. It is the responsi!ility of the student to secure hisher !elongings. The teacher is not responsi!le for
loststolen property.
&. 0tudents should secure their locks< should not share their lock com!ination with others< and should not
share locker space with others.
