Work Readiness Assessment Program
Pinckney High School

Phone: (810) 225-5751
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The goal of this program is to provide students with pre-employment skills,
decision making activities, and information on work readiness. Students will spend a
minimum of four hours per week in the classroom and six hours per week participating
in paid work experiences (not including the transportation time). This class will evaluate
and develop the students level of work maturity, and provide information on the level of
supports needed for community based employment.
COURSE REQUIREMENTS:
Students will earn grades based on daily class work, assignments, weekly blog
posts, weekly tasks, and attendance. Students are expected to attend school on a
regular basis. It is a requirement that a student attends 90% of the time in order to stay
in the program and receive credit. If necessary, an attendance contract will be put into
place to ensure students meet the 90% requirement. Punctuality and attendance are
crucial components of obtaining and keeping a job. Mastering this skill now will help you
be more prepared for employment after high school.
GRADING POLICY:
Grades are based on daily assignments, projects, homework, quizzes/test,
attendance, and participation. Each marking period grades will be determined by the
average of points earned. Semester grades will be an average of the two nine week
quarters. All other grading policies for this class will come directly from the student
handbook.

to keep all work in a organized binder until the end of the semester.
MAKE-UP WORK:
Students will need to contact Mr. Doupe if they are absent to collect and
complete missing work. Each assignment is different, so the amount of time you have to
make up work will vary.
EXTRA HELP:
I am available before school or during 3rd hour for extra help. Students can stop
in or set up an appointment if extra help is needed.
EXTRA CREDIT:
I will accept extra credit if a student is not passing the class or would like to
improve their grade. This will be set up on an individual basis.
CLASSROOM RULES:
All classroom rules will be clearly stated on the front wall of the classroom. The
rules and policies stated in the handbook will also be enforced.
