Shrirangapatna, Tamil Nadu Travel Guide : Shrirangapatna is located in Mandya district near Mysore in
Karnataka state of India. The city is connected to Bangalore and Mysore by train. It lies on the Bangalore-Mysore
highway. It is surrounded by Kaveri River from all sides. The name Sringapatnam comes from the Ranganathswamy
Temple which is the main attraction of the town. There are three Ranganathswamy temples in India they are Adi
Ranga at Srirangapattana, Madhya Ranga at Shivanasamudra and Antya Ranga at Srirangam. Srirangapatnam was
the capital of Mysore state under its ruler Tipu Sultan. The places of interest in and around Srinangapatnam are The
Palace and Mausoleum of Tipu Sultan. The holy sangam of the three holy Rivers kaveri, Kabini and Hemavati.
Other important temples of the town are Lakshminarasimha Temple, Jyothi Mahaswara temple, Anjunaya Ganesha
Temple, Pandurangaswamy Temple and Ayyapa temple. Srirangapatna is well connected by road, Rail and air to
various destinations of the country. By Air nearest Airport is Mysore (14 Kms) by taxi it is Rs.300, Bangalore
Airport is 140 Kms from Mysore taxi to Srirangapatna costs Rs.3000. Other nearby airports are Peelamedu Airport
(159 Kms), and Kozhikode Airport (165 Kms). Mysore Railway station is the nearest railhead. Mysore is connected
with Bangalore and Bangalore is in turn connected to all other cities of India. There are excellent bus services from
srirangapatna to other cities. Verities of Tourist busses, A/c deluxe busses and Volvo busses are operated by
Karnataka state transport Corporation.
