Michigan Tech University

Admission requirements vary by major, but here are general guidelines. Contact the admissions
office at 888-688-1885 or email mtu4u@mtu.edu to discuss your specific situation.
GPA: Well review your high school transcript and evaluate the courses you took and the grades you
received. The cumulative GPA provided by your high school is used in the admissions process. If you have
a weighted and unweighted GPA, we will use whichever is best for you in terms of admission and merit-
based scholarships. We do not recalculate your GPA; however, we will convert your GPA to a 4.0 scale if
your school uses a different grading scale.
Test scores: Official ACT or SAT scores are required for first-year applicants. The ACT composite score
or SAT critical reading plus math scoresis reviewed for all applicants. For engineering applicants, we
also review the math score on either exam. If youve taken both exams, or taken an exam more than once,
we use whichever scores from a single test benefit you most for admission and merit-based scholarships.
High school diploma: To enroll at Michigan Tech, you must be awarded a high school diploma or have
earned your GED. Upon completion of your senior year, request to have an official final transcript sent
directly to Michigan Tech from your high school. Your final transcript must show your final grades and
graduation date. Students who earn a certificate of attendance, even if admitted to Michigan Tech prior to
receipt of the final transcript, will not be allowed to enroll at Michigan Tech as a degree-seeking student.
