| BEFORE USING SNOWTHROWER
4. Learn eontrols and how they work.
2. Check the following:

| —Bett and chain tension.
| —Parts: loose, missing, worn, damage
| SAajustments: chute, spout, skids.
3. Belore snow falls, clear the work area of objects that
may be picked up and thrown by the snowthrower.
RAISING AND LOWERING
SNOWTHROWER
NOTE: See your tractor operator's manual for location

Raising and Lowering
Push hydraulic lever forward to lawer snowthrower,
Pull lever to rear to raise snowthrower.
‘Tractors with Three Hydraulic Levers:
H your tractor has three hydraulic levers, use the lever
ext to tractor to raise or lower snowthrower. For 140
Tractors with three levers, use tha center lever. |
Float Position
For tractors with three hydraulic levers, push control lever
forward to float position when you are snowthrowing.
Float pasition allows snowthrower to follow contours of
round.

ADJUSTING SPOUT
CAUTION: Before you adjust spout:
—Stop snowthrower.
=Stop engine.
—Lower snowthrower to ground,
—Lock park brake, Remove key.
—Wait for auger to stop.
Leesen adjusting knob. Move spout to desired position.
Tighien knob.

4, Push handle forward.
2. Turn handle to adjust chute to throw snow in desired
direction. Chute should turn approximately 20 dagras to
rear on each side.
3. Release handle.

ADJUSTING SKIDS
Before you operate snowthrower an gravel or uneven
surfaces, lower 2kids all the way.
Fiaise skids before you throw snow from a smooth
surface. Scraper blade should not scrape ground.
4. Raise snowthrower. Put a block under auger housing.
2. Loosen three cap screws. Move skid to desired
position. Tighten cap screws.

1. Start engine,
2. Move thrattla lever (i) to one-fourth speed position.
3. Lower snowthrower to ground.
IMPORTANT: To prevent clutch damage, do not
in FAST
4. Move PTO switch to the ON position to engage
snowthrower,
'5, Move throttle lever (A) to fast position for best engine
performance and snowthrowing results.

6, Release park brake (8)
CAUTION: Be sure the area is clear before
you begin snowthrowing.
| 7. Move hydrostatic lever forward slowly to begin forward
travel

8. Throw snow at a safe travel speed.

DISMOUNTING TO INSPECT OR UNPLUG
SNOWTHROWER
Follow steps below also when you park tractor and
‘snowthrowor.
1. Stop tractor.
2, Put PTO switch in OFF position
3. Lower snowthrower to ground.
4, Lock park brake.
5, Stop engine.
6. Remove key.
7. Walt for auger to stop.
NOTE: If engine and snowthrower are running, engine
and snawthrawer must stap whan you get off the
operator's seat
SNOWTHROWING TIPS
Operate snowthrower only at full throttle.
Operate snowthrower at a safe travel speed.
Slaw down when you operate on slopes, befare you make
| tur, and whan you operate close to buildings or trees.
For snowthrowing in drifts, the dit blade (shown) will cut
through drifted snow and help break down diifts
Use rear weighis shown in tractor operator's manual. Z
For snowthrowing on slopes, of in other aifficult condi-
tions, install chains on rear tractor tires,
Throw snow downwind, if possible.

TRANSPORTING TRACTOR AND

Chain shauld deflect 9/16 to 1/2 in. (5 to 13 mm).
4, To adjust tension:

1, Remove tracter grille
2. Move belt tansion lever (A) all the way to your left to

4, Chack condition of bolt. If belt is badly frayed, warn,

5, Install new belt. Tighten tension lever. Install grille.

REMOVING CONTROL ROD BRACKET
4. Park tractor and snowthrower on a hard, level suriace.
Stop engine. Remove key.
2, Remove wing nut, washer, and bracket. For tractor
with a plate holding the brackel, remove cap scrow,
‘washer, and bracket.
2, Install washer and wing nut or cap screw. Tighten wing
| nut or cap screw.
REMOVING BELT
1, Remove tractor grille,
2. Move laver (A) to your lett to release tensian,

MOVING IDLER PULLEY
| 4. Pull idler pulley (A) to front as fer a it will go.

DISCONNECTING HYDRAULIC LINES
1, Move hydraulic lavers back and forth several times to
relieve pressure in the hydraulic system.
2, Push coupler sleeves back. Riemave hoses.
3, Disconnect dust plugs (A) from dust caps (8).
4, Install dust caps on hose ends. Install dust plugs in
couplers.
LOCKING SPRING PINS
| Pull and turn spring pins to locked position
REMOVING SNOWTHROWER FROM
TRACTOR BRACKET
CAUTION: If necessary, use two persons to
remove snowthrower: one an each side of
tractor.
4, Move tractor controls sa you can move tractor very
short distance by hand without running engine.

3, Put one hand on front of snewthrower, other hand on
{front tire
4. Push down front of snomthrower. At same time roll
tractor away 80 lug (A) comes out of slot (8).

STORING SNOWTHROWER
CAUTION: DO NOT work under a raised
snowthrower unless it is blocked

ASSEMBLE CHUTE AND CABLE
4, Leop cables around spool as shown.
2. Insert ends of cable thraugh eye of cable quide.
3, Turn controt handie until ends of cable are same length
when pulled across chute.

4. Apply a light coat of grease to base of chute,

6. Install clips (A) loosely on each side of spout

tracior, install cable in hole shown. if your snow

cable in hole A.
7. Put cable from top of spool to front of spout. Put cable
from battom af spool to rear of spout.
6, Install cable between screws as shown,
9. Pull cable ends tight. Tighten screws.
10, Tum control handle to check chute rotation. Chute
shuld turn approximately 20 degrees to the rear on each
side.
11, Adjust by tightening cables if necessary.
INSTALL DRIFT BLADE
1, Fasten blade to either side of snowthrower with two
1/4 x 3/4-in, cartiage bolts, lock washers, and nuts.
Tighten nuts,
2, Install snawthrawer. (See Installation section.)
3. Adjust snawthrowar. (See Operating Snowthrower
section.)
4, Tighten loase hardware.
