Meaning of "legitimate expectation of privacy"
There is a certain degree of legal privacy and e'pectations that will fluctuate depending on
the location and nature of information +activity or conditions in ,uestion. -owever .n some
situations )eople can e'pect to have a certain level of privacy in public places.
Consent
/efore ma&ing a programme all Organisations+ individuals must be aware that they will be in
the programme and must give their consent before it broadcasts.
Gathering information, sound or images and the re-use of material
The re(use of material which has already been used by the broadcaster for a specific
purpose and is then used again for another purpose or used in con%unction with an entirely
different programme must be carefully addressed by the broadcaster to avoid creating an
unwarranted infringement of privacy.
Meaning of "Door stepping"
0oor stepping is when an interview ta&es place either on film or through a recording with an
un e'pecting person alerting them to the fact that the call will be used in the recording for
broadcast purposes* without any previous notice given. 1The filming+recording can
sometimes be an attempted interview.
