Hot tapping is a technique of attaching a branch connection to an in-service piping by drilling through a
previously attached bolted or welded connection and valve. The ability of hot tapping allows customer to
avoid shutdown for performing tie-in, add-on, by-pass, modify or even repair existing pipeline or pressure
vessel in safe and cost effective manner. Typical applications are as below:
Valve or thermo well installation
Additional line tie-in
Line draining or venting
Line sampling points
Alternations and replacements
