Technology and other advancements in
every day life have spread throughout
the world, this is causing cultures to
change. Countries are able to
communicate better through
technology and different languages.
Mass media and television spread
information daily about events
occurring in countries throughout the
world daily. Countries get a feel for
other cultures through the media.
Overall it is bringing countries together
and changing their look on one another.

Why does it matter today
Globalization is changing many peoples
lives today. Even back to the 19
th

century people have been spreading
their ideas. But now globalization is
occurring at a more rapid pace bringing
everyone together by changing their
perception and their interactions
between one another.
Three Important Terms
Pop
culture includes music,
movies, sports, fashion,
food, hobbies or leisure
activities. All of these effect
ever country.
People
have adopted this all over the
world by different cultures.
Western cultures put more of
a value on daily items. Not
every country is like this but
some and beginning to. For
example many people all over
the world eat fast food, they
value it in other countries not
like us because we consume it
daily.
When you are bring two
different cultures together
by showing them how
different their lifestyles are.
Even though many cultures
have different ways of living
they still adapt to each
other.
How has culture been influenced in
Europe
There was a lot of talk weather or not if Turkey should be added to
the EU

If turkey were to join the EU there
would be a big spread of culture
through all the countries due to
the fact that Turkey is Islamic.
Turkeys government isnt ran the
same way that EU run theirs so
they could all experience different
problems even though they are
both excepting one another into
their cultures. They are providing
each other with goods for example
Turkey gets a lot of gas and oils
from Asia. And their government is
growing rapidly
Before the rule of Peter the Great Russia was a
medieval country until 1721. Peter modernized
and westernized Russia. He traveled throughout
other European countries to try to find out way
that he could improve his country. After taking
many ideas from other countries he came back to
Russia and began to change their old habits. He cut
off beards from the nobles, breads were very
important in Russias culture. He brought over
foods to grow. Ship makers came over from Europe
to help build and teach how to make a ship. Peter
opened many new schools to increase the
education of his people. He brought over medicine
that would help people and mathematics that
would improve their ideas.
Peter the Great began to take on globalization back in the 18
th

century. He took in other people ways of daily life in order to
improve his. He was trying to bring old Russia and new Russia
together without problems.
Latin American
The Spanish took over Latin American in 1519 because they had a good
military and they brought over diseases which killed off a lot of people. Right
away Spain began to spread Christianity throughout Latin America. Trade was
still important between other countries and Latin America had a lot of good
items for trade. Before Latin America today civilizations were around like the
Olmecs, Mayas, Aztecs, and Incas each one had their own type of
government, writing system, calendars, they has medicines, math, used the
stars for science, and they believed in their own god. These ancient
civilizations in Latin America influenced how Latin Americas culture is today.
Latin America had a very heavy religious background just like they have now.
They celebrate with a lot with a lot of festivals. Latin American has a lot of
class struggle. There is a big gap between the rich and the poor which causes
a lot of problems within the country when they use outsourcing instead of
their own people. Leaders through out the government go through a lot of
changed for example Cuba when it came to a communist government.
Latin America today
his a big influence
on American
culture. From music
to sports and trade
they impact us all.
In China they were a communist
government but they were more
open to the idea of it and went
along with it. China went through
a couple of leaders who were very
powerful like Chiang-Kai-Shek and
Mao Zedong. Mao tried to create
the first five year plan. There was
The Great Leap Forward in 1958 to
1960 which which abandoned the
soviet model of economy, private
food production was banned and
livestock and farm implements
brought under control. There was
a lot of class struggle and power
struggle while Mao was leader.
China to this day trades a lot. We
get most of our goods from there
and their economy is growing.
In Asia North Korea and South Korea have
its many problems. Through out the years
they have mad their many ups and downs
with each other. South Korean is more
Developed then North Korea. South Korea
trades with out countries, they have a really
good economy while in south Korea
everything is censored there you have to be
in at a strict time and follow the
government rules or youll get in trouble.
They dont have a growing economy
because they dont trade with other
countries.
Western cultures tend to dominate other
cultures?
Western cultures dominate the worldwide
mass media. The west impacts many
different cultures throughout the world
through customs and ideas. The western
language is spoken throughout the world
because Europe colonized America, Asia,
and Africa. Over the years though English
has become one of the most dominate
languages spoken with 500million people
who speak it. Like I used earlier McDonalds
is all over the world and people eat it daily.
I think this happens because it becomes
more of a trend and everyone wants to be
part of the trend that is going on.
Steps governments are taking to protect
cultural diversity.
Because of globalization people are
now beginning to feel that they are
losing their identity because they are
becoming to similar to each other.
This may create problems between
countries. France in the late 1990s
removed words from their vocabulary
because they thought it was
corrupting their government. Other
countries some people still arent
aloud to wear whatever clothing that
they and they still have to participle
and certain cultural events. Some are
trying to return to their traditional
ways. Countries still censor certain
music and tv shows. Countries are
very dependent on each other.
