Time Introduction (Set): Teaching Approaches

Prior to teaching, the teacher will take the clock down.
The teacher will take the students outside and play
Whats the time Mr. Wolf to allow the children to
understand numbers and oclock values. This activity will
also allow children to run around and exert energy before
sitting down to complete a worksheet activity.

The teacher will ask the students what clocks help us do.
Anticipated answer: they tell us what time it is, they tell us
when we need to do certain things eg. Come in from
recess, lunchtime

The teacher will introduce the pre-test activity by
providing students with a blank clock and asking students
to draw a clock by putting all the numbers on the clock.

Once students have completed that, the teacher will ask
students to draw their favourite time on their clock and
write what they do at that time which makes it their
favourite time.

floor once finished and ask some students to come up the
front and talk about their favourite time.

The teacher will move around the classroom while students are completing their worksheets to
observe where students have put the numbers on their clocks. The teacher will collect all worksheets
at the end of the activity to go through each students piece of work. The teacher will then be able to
assess who is meeting the outcome and who needs further skill development in this area. There will
be a follow on activity for students to continue to learn about clocks/time.
