different contexts when making an oral presentation.


Rationale
Petroleum is an important product in todays modern life. Usually people is unaware of petroleum different
uses. As well as the serious effects on the environment.

Lesson Content
Different forms petroleum takes on as a component or ingredient in various manufactured products, some of
the human health and environmental concerns associated with the use and disposal of these particular
products, and ways to minimize the harmful effects of petroleum and petroleum-derived products on the
environment.


INSTRUCTIONAL PROCEDURES

a. Warm-Up Video. T asks Ss what products they use are oil-derived, and writes three or four
answers on the board. Then T plays a video about the different uses of petroleum in our everyday life:
Refining crude oil: Where is it used? What products and applications are made from oil?

b. Teaching Procedures
Presentation:
1. Activate prior knowledge: Ss take turns writing on the board any information they can remember
related with petroleum.
2. Ppt presentation oil in our lives. It describes different products derived from oil and the effects
on environment.
3. Watch a video about the effects of oil on animals

Controlled Practice:
T forms groups of four students, hands in a list of petroleum- derived products and asks them to
make a table classifying the products under categories: consumption, recreation, transportation, make
up, clothes.
Semi Controlled Practice:
Ss answer questions about the information presented in the ppt oil in our lives.
Free Practice:
In groups of four Ss discuss about the use of oil-derived products: benefits and effects on environment.
Make a comparison chart.

T writes on the board a comparison chart summarizing students charts.

T makes an oral presentation summarizing the information.
