Sketchbook Assignments

1. Create THREE spreads (two pages face-to-
face) that depict PUBLIC DRAWING ie going
somewhere (mall, Centennial Park,
downtown of city, beach, bookstore, cafe)
and create a -scape of what you see using
contour lines only, fully shaded, or .?

2. Create TWO spreads inspired by two artists you are influenced by. You ARE NOT COPYING
any of this artists work; you are creating spreads in your sketchbook that mimic the artists
style OR uses the same subject matter the artist often works with. Some sites to find artists
artistaday.com or Pinterest. If you have a Pinterest account and want to follow my ARTIST
board (where I have 336 artist pins), just search for Molly Brennan.

3. Go to http://www.kerismith.com/popular-posts/100-ideas/ (link on weebly site) and complete
two spreads or pages that use 2 of the ideas on her list. Make sure you choose prompts
that include visual evidence of completion through drawing, collaging, collecting, or writing (ie
dont choose 19. Take 15 minutes to eat an orange. Ha!)

4. Draw a messy or cluttered corner of a room in a face-to-face spread format. Because you will
be working in a spread format, this will have a panoramic feel. Use graphite or pen and ink.

5. Create a spread that shows 5 different contour
drawings /sketches of YOU from direct observation with
5 different facial expressions. Overlap faces.

6. Create a spread of your choice drawing, doodling,
collaging, painting, writing, etc.
