Engaging families in school and classroom events to build a strong bridge between the
home and the school is a very important step in the teaching process. This standard highlights the
importance of involving the family and the community in school events and their child
development. The newsletter assignment shows the way of involving families in school different
event, and the different ways teacher can use to communicate with the family.
This assignment is about making a newsletter for parents. It includes different areas, as to
build the partnership with family. Before doing this assignment, I thought that the only way school
can communicate with families was through the meetings they do. Moreover, I did never notice the
effects of areal communication between school and family, and I thought that in real field the
school is the responsible of the child in the school only, and the family is responsible for the child
at home. As if there is a gab, the teacher feel they are not welcome at the childs home, and the
family feel they are not welcome at schools according to the idea teachers are busy. In addition, I
thought that writing a newsletter is very easy and it could include anything!
After taking this assignment I realize that in writing newsletter, teachers have to consider
many things. For example; the language of the parents, the different cultures and their values. This
newsletter is going to be the way to involve the family and to give them an idea that they are
welcome to the school, and that they have the right to know the small specific information about
their children. Also, through the newsletter teachers together with parents can solve many
behaviors child show, by the ongoing feedback from the school and the family. From the
newsletter, I learned that parents can be together with the teacher in putting the curriculum and to
enrich the lessons through the cooperative ideas with the school.
As a trained teacher, I used the newsletter with my students weekly as I consider the
importance of its effects on teaching progress. It allows them to meet daily at the end of the day

and discuss any issues, and take some notes and send it with the child to home. I think involving
families is very important, not just for the child, but also for the teachers themselves, to follow
childs growth at home too.
