Styrofoam and Powdered Oyster Shells as Tiles

Abstract
This research study aim to produced tiles out of powdered oyster shells
and Styrofoam.
One liter of premium gasoline was used to dissolve 350grams of
Styrofoam. Powdered oyster shells and dissolved Styrofoam were mixed to the
following rations; !"# 3!" and $!". The mixture%s were poured into the prepared
$x$x"&$ inches molders and left for air'drying. The dried powdered oyster shell
and dissolved Styrofoam tiles were removed from its corresponding molders for
dura(ility and water a(sorption test.
Three trails were conducted for dura(ility and water a(sorption test. )esult
showed that the experimental tile having the ration of !" is dura(le with the
average mean of ".*. also the experimental tiles with the ration of !" is water
resistant with the average mean of 0# which means it does not a(sor( any
amount of water which is the same as that of commercial tiles.
The researcher concluded that powdered oyster shells and dissolved
Styrofoam can (e a good tiles in terms of dura(ility and water resistant.
