The proposed new syllabus for BMUS (Hons) includes 3 parts. Part I focuses on language, environmental studies, history of Indian music theory, and hons subjects like regional folk songs, psychoacoustics, classical music, and practical performances. Part II includes history of Indian music, western music theory, karnatak music theory, classical music theory, khayal performances, and optional practical subjects. Part III allows students to choose optional subjects in classical music, Rabindra Sangeet, or Bengali songs, covering analysis of ragas, tala classification, sight singing, notation scoring, and stage performance.
