Tissues and Cells

-Respiratory epithelium is the characteristic tissue of the passages of the


respiratory system
-The goblet cells of the nose produce mucus
-Olfactory receptors in the nose are responsible for detecting odor
molecules. Basal cells of the olfactory region can divide into either
olfactory or sustentacular cells which give metabolic support to olfactory
cells.
-Lung tissues are made up of alveolar tissue which allow the lungs to
transfer and exchange gases easily.
-Ciliated epithelial tissue help trap pathogens and particles in the bronchi
