Every child has an exponential amount of potential that needs to be tapped into, AUSL has given me the tools to
extrapolate that potential. In order for students to meet their full potential, I am committed to establishing a safe and
loving environment where rigor and high expectations are classroom norms.

Please accept my letter of application for a 3rd to 8th grade teaching position at an AUSL School. With my exceptional
undergraduate and graduate record and year-long residency at Marquette School of Excellence, I am particularly
interested in utilizing my skills, residency experience, and knowledge with higher grade classes.

My year long residency at Marquette School of Excellence, year long student teaching experience at Norton Space and
Aeronautics Academy (Dual Language Immersion-Spanish/English/Chinese) and two year Program Leader experience at
Think Together, Mission Middle School has given me the confidence and skills to perpetuate student learning and growth
in any teaching arena. AUSL, especially, has fine tuned the skills I need to be a successful teacher in an urban setting.
Some of the skills that most highlight who I have become as a teacher are as follows:

Planned differentiated instruction so all students had the opportunity to learn and achieve academic success.
Implemented strategies such as Think-Pair Share, small group work, and a variety of collaborative activities to
check for understanding.
Designed and helped direct the Holiday Skit for school assembly as well as volunteering to participate in other
school functions and events.
Used daily data to inform planning and instruction by using assessments such as exit tickets to determine
intervention groups and target support where it is needed.
Participated in data cluster meetings every week.
Proficient in Bilingual Instruction, Guided Reading, Data driven instruction, strategies for implementing BMC.
Participated in cooperative learning seminars facilitated by Dr. Kagan.
Used NWEA strands to identify areas of growth in students.
Implemented routines and procedures to support BMC.

I honestly know I would be an asset to your team because I am willing to do what it takes to succeed anywhere. I am so
thrilled to join an AUSL school and be a part of a team that believes in something bigger than themselves. I am
committed to literacy, in every capacity, and will work hard to help all my students reach goals they cannot yet even
fathom. I am excited to meet you and go over my qualifications further.

Sincerely,

Teresa Chavez
