After the activity, 60-72 months of kindergarten children will recognize the feeling of hard
and soft by touching the objects for many times.

60-72 months of kindergarten children can guess an objects feelings (hard or soft) after
applying the activity.

At the beginning the day, the teacher takes children to the outside of the classroom and
want them to collect small objects which they found such us stones, leaves, cones, soil etc.
after collecting them they talk about these object feelings. The teacher asks children how
they feel when they touch the objects. Later, they come back to the classroom. Before the
activity teacher prepares boxes. She puts cotton and cone into the smaller box. Then she
puts it into the bigger box with a key, peace of sponge and a note. After prepared she hides
it a place which near to her. Firstly, teacher says Now, I tell you two adventurer childrens
story Sibel and Mert. Summarize in the story Sibel and Mert find a map and follow its road.
They find the crate. In that time teacher shows box to children. After that she open the box
and take outs smaller box, key, sponge, and box. Teacher gives them key and sponge, every
child touches them at the same time she asks what they feel. After that she reads the note
If you wonder what in the box, just think what is the hard, then use to open with it, when
you open make an activity with it. Then teacher asks them what is the hard one and opens
box with the key. After that teacher shows them cotton and cone. She asks children what
can do with them and listen their guesses. After that she distributes papers then asks them
which animal soft which one hard. Then children put cotton on the sheep picture with glue
and cone on the turtle picture.







Individual Learning Activities

The children collect the objects individually on
the outside and after distributing the papers,
they make guesses express their feelings. At
the end, they put cotton on the sheep picture
with glue and cone on the turtle picture
individually.
Group Learning Activities

After the teacher summarizes the story and
the map, the children find the crate as a
group.

Summary
The children examine hard and soft objects by touching it and play a group game with the
directions of the teacher and make drawings at the end by putting cotton on the sheep
picture with glue and cone on the turtle picture.

Measurement & Evaluation
The teacher observes the children and with the help of checklist, measures the acquisitions
for childrens cognitive development. At the end, s/he asks questions about the differences
between soft and hard concepts such us What did we for open the box? What was in the
boxes? What did you feel when you touch key and sponge? What feel while you listening the
story? What give you same feeling when you touch cotton, cone, sponge and key? Do you
know any other hard/soft materials in class/home? Do you know any other hard/soft
materials in class/home?

Measurement & Assessment Activities
for Individual Performance
The children do observations at the outside
individually. They also put cotton on the sheep
picture with glue and cone on the turtle picture
individually.

The children find the crate. In that time teacher
shows box to children. After that she open the

Homework (optional) Teacher sends a note to teacher and wants them
to find and touch hard/soft materials. Then
children bring one hard one soft material for the
hard-soft corner. The teacher also sends a survey
via e-mail to test their awareness about
childrens literature education. After collecting
the results, s/he organizes a seminar to give
more information to the parents.
Explanation

Explanation regarding to the implementation of the plan
Before the activity, if the children could not go outside because of bad weather condition or
any other reasons, the teacher may prepare a presentation or a poster about the object that
they may find at the outside and show them by this way instead of going outside.
